Downs testing / Papp a and small baby?

Hi all
I had my nhs screening test which came back with a risk of 1 in 900 which was significantly higher than my last pregnancy which was 1 in 16000
I asked what had caused this difference and no one could tell me but I’ve read online that a low ? Papp a can cause an increased downs risk on the nhs screening
I’ve since had the harmony and everything is fine but at my 20 week scan the baby was on the 25th canticle and when they measured fundal height at 24.5 weeks I was measuring 22.5
Is it worth me asking what my Papp a is or would it have been picked up if it was low?

Re: the (still low) higher Downs risk. You are older this pregnancy by definition so the background risk will be higher regardless of anything else.

I have low papp a and it was picked up as part of my 12 week scan and I have growth scans because of it. I am certain they would have told you if your papp a was a concern so I wouldn't worry. Agree with above post, the variance will be because of age most likely

These tests for Downs are a nightmare! Our experience is we believe mothers are being worried out of their minds with all this testing and results are all over the place. Some combined blood tests are putting mums at higher risk then further tests come back clear. Our experience was the NT was normal range, the Pappa was within normal range yet score came up high risk for DS. NIPT came back high risk for DS! After reassurance that midwife could see no concerns. 12 week scan was fine. Now follow up diagnostic tests are required!! It’s all a minefield. Several women we know who were told they were “high risk” decided not to test further and babies all arrived perfectly normal.
Something is definitely amiss here. Testing was never done like this 30 years ago.. It’s all getting too technical and computers are spilling out these results and the NHS are coming up with the very worse scenario! And scaring poor women to death.. Stop it’

I had low Papp-a which caused my DS risk to be 1 in 25! DD is 2.5 weeks old and was born 100% healthy. I think it’s something to do with the hormones relating to the placenta but as far as I am aware, it’s pretty common and doesn’t usually cause issues

Have they put you on daily aspirin because of it? I was on this and believed it helped keep my daughter healthy. If you’re not on it, I’d speak to your dr about putting you on it as it helps with blood flow to the placenta. Good luck
