Hi ladies, can anyone recommend a good cream/ointment for stretch marks.
I'm only 13 weeks and don't have any but want to introduce into my daily routine some sort of moisturising to try and prevent them as much as possible before they take over!
TIA!! x

Bio oil I absolutely swear by the stuff!!! Lather it on my the bucket load boobs back and belly. 3rd pregnancy and zero stretch marks. 5 weeks to go fingers crossed I don’t get any xx

Bio oil is nice but stretch marks are genetic, nothing you can do to stop them.

I lashed on the Bio oil in my first pregnancy and would have given that the credit for entirely escaping stretch marks, had it not been for rhe fact that I didn't bother in my recent (twin, full term) pregnancy and still have none.

You can use any moisturiser you like, but nothing will stop stretch marks if you are genetically prone to them. I've had three babies and didn't get a single stretch mark, and I didn't do anything to try to prevent them. It won't hurt to try though, and at the very least you'll have lovely soft skin.

Ah fair enough, I wasn't aware it was a genetic thing! Thanks ladies!

@emma911030 I'm prone to stretch marks as I got them from normal growing as a teenager. But I used cocoa butter stretch mark cream each morning(non greasy) and bio oil in the evening and I didn't get a single stretch mark. Using something (probably any moisturiser) day and night certainly won't do you any harm.

My belly looked like a tiger had a attacked me after my first, I'm talking big angry looking red and purple stripes. I got them even though I used all the creams and oils throughout the pregnancy. I tell you this not to make you fret but after a few weeks after birth I started using bio oil again and my belly looked normal again after a few months.

So basically what I'm saying I don't worry if you get them you and improve them after wards - easily

Thank you @butlerswharf and @Fartootiredforthisshit Smile

So here’s my experience—I didn’t get stretch marks (except for that vertical black line) and I think I’m prone to them, as I got them on my thighs as a teenager.

I think limiting pregnancy weight gain to 25 pounds (the lower end of my BMI bracket) and being religious with moisturizing the belly (to accommodate stretching) helped.

But obviously I can’t say for sure. I might have had other genetic factors like height (I’m quite tall) that came into play.

So yeah, it’s a nice evening ritual to oil up your belly anyway, so why not do it? I often had DH do it whenever I was too tired.

I think its hereditary or luck tbh! I used bio oil daily but still got then in last few weeks

Didnt use anything with my first pregnancy and didn't get any stretch marks. Used bio oil with my 2nd pregnancy and got loads of stretch marks :(

I really think its the luck of the draw.

A group of us were talking about this the other day and a friend of mine used bio oil 3 times a day through out her pregnancy and still ended up with loads of stretch marks. What annoyed her was when some people saw her stretch marks their first response was "why didn't you use bio oil?" Afew people said this to her.

She felt like they were judging her and almost blaming her as if she got stretch marks because she couldn't be bothered to look after herself.

Nothing can stop you getting stretch marks but i would still recommend using bio oil or any moisturiser as it keeps your skin really soft.

As pp said stretch marks do fade with time. You can still see them but they are not as bad looking as when you first get them. And our babies are worth it :)

Coconut oil from Holland & Barrett. If nothing else it helps to moisturise your skin to help it stretch. Also drinking lots of water and not gaining weight too quickly are said to help.
