Never has this with the other 2, but I'm 37+4 and baby's head has been engaged for a week or so. I'm sooooo uncomfortable. The pressure means I now have varicose veins 'you know where' (sorry, TMI?) and can't comfortably stand for long. but in the last couple of days I've been more concerned because I can't sit down without the tops of my legs getting sore and going numb. Any advice?

oh you have my sympathies !
I had varicose veins down below when pregnant with dd2 and it was sooooooooo uncomfy.I stayed uncomfy until i gave birth i am sorry to say.The midwife did advise me to wear really thick maternity pads to 'support'my fanjo and also recommended ice packs or cold compress but i was too to try that one.
With regard to the tops of your legs, could the baby be pressing on a nerve ?
Call your midwife if you are concerned.

Good luck with the birth.

Did the varicose veins go down after birth?

yes they did thank god, don't know when exactly as was too scared to look but they went and the relief from the pressure was instant.

Well at least that's one bit of good news!

Familygirl - just out of interest have you check out the "due in June" antenatal thread. There are lots of other grumpy impatient uncomfortable woman hanging around there! (Sounds tempting doesn't it ) But really we are very nice!
