So recently I have realised that when you are pregnant, everyone else around you turns into a bloody midwife!!

I love drinking coke but literally half a can with my lunch a day.

What is the right amount to drink? I'm getting made to feel very bad for drinking it!

I don’t think aspartame is evil, I just hate the taste of it (and all other sweeteners bar sugar). That’s why I stick to fizzy water!

I craved coke in all my pregnancies and just had it as at one point it was all I kept down.

Other things that just about worked were lime and soda and very strangely pineapple and tonic.

7up free sometimes too. Just a few suggestions for anyone craving fizz.

I love diet coke and have been drinking a couple cans a day. Even before pregnancy I tried to limit it somewhat because of the aspartame. At the moment without wine and beer, diet coke is my 'treat' drink. Something different from water (I don't like squash).

Brilliant, don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks ladies xx

My DM hates it but drank it by the gallon when she was pregnant with me. I think I turned out ok Grin. I craved lucozade with DC1 and yes, I drank a fair amount. He is fine too.

The only pregnancies where I have cut caffeine out resulted in miscarriage. It’s purely coincidental of course but restricting caffeine really did fuck all in those cases.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'd worry about teeth though. I drank coke through pregnancy and I think the two combined are the reason my teeth suddenly went to shit 😅
I got loads of judgy-wudgies giving me their 'professional' opinion on child growing.
I use to follow up the coke or coffee (it was always decaf coffee ffs) with, "next you'll tell me I shouldn't be having my G&T in the evening!"

I love a coke but havent dared touch it since the midwife but the fear of god in me telling it will speed the babys heart rate up because of the caffeine. Not touched it whilst pregnant but really really want some. Dont drink tea or coffee so i know im being stupid.

My Greek doctors told me to have more coffee when I was pregnant as I looked tired!

I went off it but not the cola. I agree with the pp though, I got bad teeth in pregnancy too.

I think its like everything else. Fine in moderation.

I couldn’t have lived through morning sickness this pregnancy without a daily Diet Coke. It peeled me up enough at lunchtime to get me through the afternoon. It’s probably a drop in the ocean compared to my massive cup of filter coffee that I have every morning. Whenever people give me ‘helpful’ advice about food or drink, I just look them in the eyes and take another sip.

I agree with you all, there's just too many people telling me what is wrong and right. Better get used to it though as it won't stop here!! Shock

What do you do with rest of the can, throw it away or drink it flat the next day?
