Are they a definite no no? I feel like my baths are about the same temperature?

They are a no.

BlueBug45 · 15/08/2018 22:06

Then your baths are too hot.

In your case because you like such hot baths they are definitely a no no.

Geordiegirl1988 · 15/08/2018 22:07

Honestly they are fine ! Such ott bullshit ! Go on and enjoy the hot tub and bubbles

RowenaDedalus · 15/08/2018 22:09

NHS website says they are not fine, so I wouldn’t.

Your baths might be hot but the temp reduces. Hot tubs maintain a consistent high temp.

Spooples · 15/08/2018 22:10

Hot tubs are also pretty grimy. Yuck. I wouldn't risk it

Jelly67 · 15/08/2018 22:13

It might be ok.. but the again is it really worth the risk?

superram · 15/08/2018 22:13

You are losing heat through body parts not in the water. In a hot tub your baby is essentially boil in the bag. Don’t risk it. I had hot baths but my bump stuck out of the water.

ProseccoPoppy · 15/08/2018 22:13

They were on my “why risk it” list. From what I read they were a definite no in the first 12 weeks and not a good idea for the rest of the time so I didn’t. If you were desperate to I have seen guidance that says max 10 mins, but tbh I really wouldn’t.

Cherubfish · 15/08/2018 22:15

It’s not the heat that is the problem per se, it’s that the warm temperature makes them a perfect breeding ground for bacteria (not a problem in your own bath as you’re the only person in it so all the germs are yours).

Reader1984 · 15/08/2018 23:39

Used mine all the way through. Temp is on 35/36 so not too hot.

Havetothink · 16/08/2018 09:16

However hot you are baby is 2° hotter, if you're early on it could cause miscarriage, later and I'm not sure but as others have said why risk it, you'll only blame yourself if something happens.

We booked a hot tub break then realised it was not recommended to go in them. I still did, just turned the temperature right down to the lowest it would go then only stayed in there about 15 mins, had a break, went back in. I still have hot baths too just don't stay in too long

mrsnec · 16/08/2018 09:48

Yes as others have said. I went in my own on a lower temp and not with all the pumps running.

Merename · 16/08/2018 15:32

These threads pop up regularly with strong opinions such as 'boil in the bag baby' Hmm. I did a bit of research for going on a break where they had one recently and spoke to midwife. I was told if you can control the temp then no problem there, stay around 37 degrees. However the hygiene issue depends on is it your own tub and can you be sure it has been well cleaned/ maintained. My midwife said there are small numbers of women who have gotten infections from hot tubs. I don't know what 'small' means in numbers but that discussion and looking online made me feel the risks were not huge.

That all being said, I went in the tub twice and didn't stay long as I just didn't feel relaxed, and I got a bit of thrush after. May be totally unrelated but made me feel the advice not to is probably sound enough, although extremely unlikely to be of serious risk to your baba.

PurpleFlower1983 · 16/08/2018 20:10

I went in a hot tub at just over 4 weeks (the night before I got BFP) and I felt shocking afterwards. I think my body was telling me it is a no no! I know some women are less concerned later on though.
