Diet in third trimester

I am in my third trimester of my first pregnancy and I am starting to really panic about what I should be eating. I had my growth appointment at the midwife and she said he will be about 7lbs when born if he carries on as he is, which is fine and I'm happy he seems healthy. But what should i be trying to eat during these last month's and how much? I tend to have standard breakfast of cereal, fruit and a packet of crisps mid morning and a wholemeal sarnie for dinner. Tea is usually chicken with stirfry veg and noodles. I do snack on yoghurts and biscuits which i know isnt fab but I'm hungry all the time 🙈😂 I'm worried about protein and would appreciate any tips on things I need to up in my diet and any healthy snack ideas to keep little one growing and healthy. Thank you in advance xx

Yoghurts contain protein and it would be better if you are unsweetened yoghurt due to the high amount of sugar in it. You could eat natural yoghurt with fresh fruit instead as the fruit will increase your fibre intake so help you go to the loo.

Ideally you should quit the biscuits due to the sugar and high saturated fat, and the crisps due to the high saturated fat.

If you are hungry instead of eating crisps, sweetened yoghurts and biscuits just add in a 4th or even 5th proper meal into your day e.g. another sandwich.

Just a normal healthy diet! Eat if you’re hungry, try and make it healthy, with the occasional treat if you want one.

You could ignore? 😂

Apparently a pregnant woman in the 3rd trimester only needs 500 calories more, so we shouldn't really be eating beyond normal.
When my ob told me off for my weight gain last time, he said I could eat veg as much as I wanted. So I'd go for soup or salad as a snack.

Swap the crisps and the biscuits for something healthier. I know how hard it is, it's taking all my willpower not to eat the cake.

Full fat yogurt is a great snack. Bananas? Hummous and carrot sticks? Nuts? Popcorn is also healthier than crisps.

It's actually only an extra 150 calories but do what you need to do. I needed extra calories from 12 weeks so I've just been doing it. I try to make myself eat something healthy first then a biscuit if it's what I want.
