Really??? Hope you handed the lawnmower and squigee over to the person/people objecting....

sparklygothkat · 03/06/2007 18:17

I did cut the grass and clean the windows pmsl!!
It was MIL objecting. She even told me off for getting things out of the shed for the kids...

My very nice neighbour offered to cut my lawn for me this weekend when he saw that I had got the lawn-mower out. Didin't let him but thought that it was a very kind offer (I'm 29 weeks but look huge!)

bananabump · 03/06/2007 18:19

I had my brother say "you shouldn't be doing the washing, in your condition!"

Erm, well....who else is going to do it exactly?

I think I'd have to start wearing my pants inside out before anyone else would bother!

hollyandalice · 03/06/2007 18:20

My mum keeps telling me to mow the lawn, go for long walk, wash the kitchen floor, run up the stairs etc. She thinks it'll make the baby come (no concern for me then )! She also told me to have sex the other day! I was mortified!

sparklygothkat · 03/06/2007 18:21

I;m only 17 weeks atm, and have finally got my energy back, so am enjoying doing this things in the sun

Spent both my pregnancies wishing someone would tell me to take it easy & not to do the cleaning/shopping/cooking etc. Noone ever did!? So enjoy it

fuzzywuzzy · 03/06/2007 18:21

SGK, you have a golden oppurtunity, you really should have handed everything over to MIL, and gone for a facial or something......shoulda told her what time to have tea ready by as well just to ensure you don't have to do it in your delicate condition

sparklygothkat · 03/06/2007 18:22

but MIL is disabled and couldn't do it anyway

Ah I see, but the next able bodied person to come byand comment let them get on with it.

sparklygothkat · 03/06/2007 18:24

She even told me off for moving a bag of DH's audio stuff for his car ffs!!

pinkbump27 · 03/06/2007 19:41

My dh keeps telling me not to do stuff and that he will do it for me but I end up doing it myself anyway as he takes ages to get around to doing something or just forgets. Its so fustrating!

Washersaurus · 03/06/2007 20:02

I know that feeling PinkBump - I have spent hours today vacuuming, mopping floors etc etc. DH gallantly proclaimed that I should take it easy.....whilst drinking his tea and reading the paper. No hope of anyone else around here getting these jobs done unfortunately, and my back and feet are aching

RGPargy · 03/06/2007 21:37

I was told the other day by a (childless) colleague at work that i should be eating an egg mayo sarnie because "i'm not allowed eggs".

I told her that as long as the eggs are not runny, i am fine to eat them but the (childless) woman didn't believe me!!

Sheesh!

jetgirl · 03/06/2007 21:38

We went to a talk at our local hospital when pg with our dd and the midwife said pregnant women shouldn't vacuum or do much ironing! So I don't, but then feel like a nag when I have to constantly remind dh to do it; either that or I behave like a real martyr and drag the vacuum cleaner out of the cupboard making as much noise as possible before dh works out what he needs to do!
It's not so easy when pg with your second as you still have to chase after that one all day, pick her up etc, so if it's your first I would definitely advise milking the situation as it won't last forever...

I hate it too, being a single mum and due in 4 days...nobody else is around to do it! I have a lot of energy right now and am making the most of it - I feel healthier than I did a few months ago, and last week I cut the hedge, mowed the lawn, cleaned the bathroom, took a massive antique desk to bits and reassembled it indoors, moved a huge filing cabinet, erm...the list goes on.

Still the little so and so won't come out!!!!

It is nice when people do actually help, though, rather than simply telling you off with no suggestions about who might actually DO all the stuff that wants doing...
