Is it too late to ask about an elective c-section?

Hi
I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant and absolutely dreading giving birth naturally. I’m consultant led care due to other medical issues and have an ante natal appointment with them tomorrow, would it be too late to bring up the possibility of a c-section?

Thinking about labour is keeping me up at night and I really feel I’d be happier with c-section but I’m not sure if they’ll even entertain the idea just because of my anxiety.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it's too late at all, bring it up with them and see what they suggesting.

No way. Birth choices chat is usually at week 34

Thank you both.

This is my first pregnancy so everything is new to me, and as the weeks have gone on the bigger the fear of childbirth is becoming.

Thank you.

If you think it is something you want I'd say the best person to bring it up with is a consultant. You've nothing to lose by asking!

Definitely not too late I was always due to have a cs due to a back condition despite this could get in to see Consultant Midwife who apparently had to agree the CS Hmmeven with medical issues. Didn't see her till 34 weeks so only classed as a definitive CS from then. Good luck OP

Thank you all. I’m definitely going to bring it up with the consultant tomorrow.

Thanks

I didn't confirm a c section until I was 34 weeks so definitely not too late.

It’s not too late but is there someone you could be referred to that might be able to help you with your fears e.g. specialist midwife? You might still end up deciding an elective C section is the right thing for you but that can be anxiety-inducing in its own way so some counselling, coping strategies, hypnotherapy or similar might help reduce your anxiety and enjoy your pregnancy more.

Not at all. I’ve been told by the midwife they don’t typically confirm a c-section until 36 weeks, unsure how true this is. I’m 28 weeks and seeing the consultant on Wednesday to insist on one.

mine was confirmed at 36 weeks so you have plenty of time. Just keep reminding them that's what you want.

I think they will consider you for a c-section because of anxiety. It won't hurt to ask anyway.

I had mine confirmed at 34 weeks but that appointment was with a consultant due to previous section.
