Also posted on parenting, but no response as yet so thought I'd try on pregnancy board too.

Anyone have any experience of this?

I express and the amount i can get off has drastically reduced- six weeks pregnant. Wonder if early pregnancy can affect milk supply as feel like its running low. I read it can mid pregnancy, but not sure about so early on.

I had this too, luckily DS was 18 months so it didn’t matter much. This site has masses of information about feeding whilst pregnant kellymom.com/tandem-faq/16milkchanges/ hope it helps

Yes, most people have a sharp drop in milk supply by about 6 weeks pregnant and their mature milk will dry up in preparation for the return of colostrum at about 16-20 weeks.

Be warned that the laxative effect of colostrum (to clear the bowel of meconium) is just as effective on older babies and toddlers...!

Thanks for your replies. I think I am going to have to move to formula, baby is keeping me up all night feeding, and is not feeding much in the day. I presume because even though my supply is low, more comes in at night.

Unfortunately, he's not really into his solids at the mo- 7 months. Hates textures, wont put food in his mouth even though he sticks everything else in there!

He was increasing his fruit purees (won't entertain veg- was able to trick him with alternate spoons but now mouth clamped shut), but now that has come to a standstill. Going to try more baby led weaning approach, but got a feeling its just gonna end up on floor- so its not like I can compensate with food.

He's really not keen on formula either and is quite pukey on it. Oh- I'm in such a pickle!
