Colostrum - 28 weeks

I have had really sore nipples and had dry skin on them for a week or so...I have been mositorising them and lastnight noticed there was white and clear liquid coming out (sorry for the tmi). When i slightly squeezed more came out. Is this likely to be colostrum at this stage...And am I meant to squeeze it out or leave it there? I don't want to do the wrong thing when they were so sore. Thank you😊😊

Yep it's quite common to start leaking colostrum at this stage. Just leave it.
Later on you can start collecting it in syringes and freeze if you want. This is what I did and it was handy for before my milk came in and I was trying to get feeding established.

Oysterbabe thank you so much. How do you collect it to freeze, are there special kits or syringes to do this? Thank you😊 xx

You can get them from your midwife or health visitor. They will give you a load and you just label them with the date and freeze until needed.
If you want to collect it then you do it from 36 weeks, it’s pretty easy once you get the swing of it, I’ve been doing it for about a week and it’s weirdly enjoyable Smile

It is strangely satisfying. I bought some sterile 1ml and 5ml syringes from Amazon. They don't cost much. You can Google for techniques but I just squeezed it out and sucked it straight into the syringe.
