Baby = Sagging boobs?

I have always had nice rounded pert boobs and have always felt that they were my best physical assett.

My frinds and family i have been talking to have laughed at me and basically said "they wont stay that way for long now your pregnant"

I am planning to breast feed anyway for as long as i can to give the baby all the nutrients it needs and get back in shape (hopefully get in better shape than i was in before)

Am i destined to a future of sagginess?

Is there anything i can do to stop my boobies drooping

Any suggestions welcomed please

the end is near. i had gorgeous boobs. much commented on. after dd1 they went floppy, after ds they were floppier and flat-ish as well. yuck. start saving for cosmetic surgery now, if you want your boobs back after babies! but don't have any more babies after surgery.... i need to start saving.

Mine are all right in teh grand scheme of things and I breastfed for 4 years

your body changes once you are a monther, that's something you can't avoid

but it isn't necessarily a bad thing, women's bodies can be stronger and curvier than they were before giving birth

Wear a good bra, eat good food, exercise. Enjoy your baby!

um, buy some fabulous new bras?! i don't think it's all doom and gloom. mine are smaller than before kids and the firmness isn't there like it used to be. i'm not sure you'll mind so much when it comes to it!

hana · 02/06/2007 11:17

the end never came for me!
I have breastfed 3 babies (well still bfding an 8month old, she is the 3rd) and my boobs are fine. They were fairly small to start with ( aa) and I didn't really notice much difference after I had stopped breastfeeding.

maybe ill have to express milk untill the end of time to keep them full and therefore not get a chance to sag

altho will prob be treating myself to some training bras as I'll be back down to regular size........sigh

must have just been bad luck for me, although most of my mummy friends agree that theirs are like empty sacks. the only friend of mine who actually likes her post-pregnancy/breastfeeding boobs was almost flat-chested before she had her babies, so now she has some boobs and feels more sexy because of it. i had norks-galore beforehand, so there was a lot to collapse once the breastfeeding was over. it's almost worth getting pregnant again, to get the good full boobs back!!!

lazyemma · 02/06/2007 13:47

apparently it's not breastfeeding which knacks your boobs, it's pregnancy, so it doesn't matter (at least boob-wise) if you decide to breastfeed or not.

yomellamoHelly · 02/06/2007 14:02

As soon as I found out I was pg I started wearing a bra day and night and bought a new one each time I'd thought they'd gotten bigger to "keep them supported". Continued with this whilst bfing and until I had returned to a normal size. My boobs were then the same as before. Body pump helps too (lateral raises).
Currently doing it all again with ds2.

Celery · 02/06/2007 14:12

Hate to break it to you, but breastfeeding doesn't always equal fast weightloss. Some women retain body fat for the whole time they're breastfeeding, but usually lose it after they've stopped.

I really hate the way all the books and magazines state weightloss as a reason to breastfeed. It's only true for some women.

Your boobs will probably be less pert and you might have stretch marks too, and a wrinkly doughy tummy, but it's not so bad really.

motherinferior · 02/06/2007 14:53

Hmm. My norks are not what they were, but then they were (I now realise) bloody fabulous norks; they are still perfectly personable norks, and I'm a 32E.

I'm also 44 next Tuesday, which I suspect has had more effect on my bazoom than two pregnancies and breastfeeding.

I still reveal masses of cleavage.

PinkTulips · 02/06/2007 14:54

mine are awful... like saggy old lady boobs and i'm still bf-ing.

mears has posted beofre and said after you finish feeding it takes about a year and the fatty tissue will start being replaced so they might fill out a bit again yet [desperation emoticon]

i think good posture and fabulous bra's make a huge differance though (have neither myself!)

I breast fed DS for 6mths. Mine definately look different, but not bad. They have 'dropped' slightly, but they're still lovely

Now that i'm pregnant again they're filling out again too ...DD already. They were an E cup when i was feeding DS. They were basically the size of my head!

I don't mind them being different though- i mean, they weren't going to stay gravity-defying and round forever were they? And they've done a lovely and important job.

flightattendant · 02/06/2007 19:58

Ok, well this was me 5 years ago! It's alright. You'll still have nice boobs, probably.

After pregnancy I fed for 16 months, they were pretty big all that time, and then went very 'empty' with wrinkly skin. I was in despair quietly as I felt I'd spoilt them.

But they slowly began to build up again, I'm not sure how, I guess my weight might have gone between 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 stone once or twice during the next few years...anyway it seemed like they filled out again and became almost how they had been before.
Not quite so pert, but really almost!

So try not to panic. They do feel 'softer' though, that's hard to explain but seems to be a common effect of having used them for their intended purpose. It took about 2-3 years btw. (now about to go through it all again, ha ha we'll see if they survive!!)

flightattendant · 02/06/2007 20:00

Do wear a supportive bra though as the extra weight can make the skin stretch more...best to keep them as 'assisted' as possible iyswim!!
