Hi. I’ve been having continious bad nights sleep nearing the start of 2nd trimester.

Back pains have started as I have a high BMI. Husband isn’t sleeping well as I’m tossing and turning all night.

Can you please recommend a good pregnancy pillow? I am looking for a U shaped pillow as it helps me stay on my left side.

I’m considering JoJo Maman Bebe or Snuggle Up which offer the pillow but I’m skeptical about the reviews as they all seem too good to be true.

Can I have your thoughts on it please?

Thank you.

Not U shaped but G, I have this one which I DON'T recommend as it it ££ and the cover is itchy and has quite a high polyester content:

I did manage to track down a spare cover for it on Amazon, which has improved it massively. Then I discovered they also do a similar G-shaped pillows which might be a better bet as basically I love the shape, just not the cover.

Mine is quite big though and turning over involves a bit of rearranging but the bits that curl around the back stop me from rolling onto my back.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Do you not recommend it for the quality of the pillow?

Can I just say don't get the DreamGenii I hated it so much.

If I was pregnant tomorrow I think I'd splash out on the BBHugMe. I think the Sand coloured one is reduced; www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/collections/bbhugme/products/bbhugme-pregnancy-pillow-kit-sand

And also it has post partum uses

Get yourself your own double duvet in addition to the shared one. Use it to support your body.

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/08/2018 06:03

Bbhugme- it’s not u shaped but it is amazing. I tried a u shaped one and hated it - it was huge and didn’t provide the support I needed at all. Absolutely adore this one, well worth the money and I will keep using it after birth.

They’re all awful. Awful!! Polyester nightmares. I’ve taken to using extra pillows where needed.

I’ve got the bbhugme. Honestly, the best thing ever! Had the dreamgenii for my first pregnancy and they are worlds apart in quality and comfort

MaverickSnoopy · 07/08/2018 07:18

I've got the Dream Geni. It was recommended to me by a physio when I had my first bout of PGP. 3rd pregnancy now and tried to use it each time. It does nothing apart from give me a bad back (which I didn't have to start with).

To those of you who have it and don't like it. I have recently discovered that it's much better if you use it upside down.

WinterBabyIsComing · 07/08/2018 09:23

I've just got a small wedge pillow that goes under my bump, finding that very comfy.

Loulabelle25 · 07/08/2018 09:33

Bbhugme - expensive but brilliant. My husband sneered at it at first as he knew how much I spent and he knows I’m a sucker for an expensive brand. Honestly, he’d happily buy his own one now and sneakily uses it when I’m not around! You can really adapt how you use it and I envision getting lots more use of it when baby arrives in 5 weeks

I have the dreamgenii which whilst I don't LOVE, I get on with ok. I actually use it the wrong way around so I sleep on my left side but put the long side down my back to stop me rolling over in the night. I then have a regular pillow between my knees. I found with it the "normal" way around I kept rolling onto my back. At 20w I've started noticing that being on my back is causing me to get light headed so i need to ensure it doesn't happen. I've heard amazing things about the bbhugme so if money is no object then maybe consider that one. I could never justify that much money on a pillow though when I've got a baby on the way but each to their own

SiolGhoraidh · 07/08/2018 15:32

I love the traditional V shaped pillows. They're cheap and easy to get extra covers for, which is good in this sweaty weather.

I have two, so when I wake up hot and sticky I can switch to a cool pillow, bliss!

hammeringinmyhead · 07/08/2018 15:34

I have an Ikea v-shaped pillow. I think it's a Nejlika. £7 and £3 for a pillowcase.

AaaaaaarghhhWhereAreMyKeys · 07/08/2018 21:43

Pinky the pillow quality is OK, I've had it for about three months and it's holding up very well. However I spent nearly £40 on the pillow, then at least another £10 on the pillow case (which fits but isn't perfect, slightly too long). If I were buying it again I'd go for this which is the same shape as mine but already comes with a cotton cover. Half the price of what I ended up paying....

The Theraline Original - 190cm long, about fifty quid, micropearl filled (would never buy a standard filled one as they go flat), will use mine for a long time. Lots of covers and colours available. Good German quality. Refillable/adjustable filling of the volume if pearls. Meant to be used for breastfeeding afterwards but i prefer the hard american type cushions instead.
Also recommend the Theraline baby cushion yo prevent flat heads in babies. They are brill and available at JohnLewis.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I’m tempted to buy BBhugme. All reviews are positive but thinking about the cost involved, I’m also considering JoJo Maman Bebe. Thank you again.
