Feeling so groggy

Hi all, I found out I was pregnant this weekend. It is my first pregnancy and I'm 35. I am close to 5 weeks (digit test and self tracking) and have felt rough sort of like I'm fighting off a virus/hangover for 10 days, I also walk up all the time and am completely exhausted. I wondered how long does this part last?
I'm calling midwife today to book in for fist app. I don't really know what to expect there either. 😕

Congratulations!! I had my first baby at 35 too having my second now at 38!

I felt groggy for the first12 or so weeks with both but now 18 weeks I'm tonnes better. Just eat tonnes of vegetables and healthy stuff I find that helps and drink tonnes of water.

Your first booking in appointment takes the longest they go thru yours, your partners and family medical history, previous terminations & pregnancies, anything like people in the family with deafness, other conditions etc then a general chat about all the appointments during your pregnancy and information from bounty may be given (magazine, leaflets etc etc...) and then some pregnacare tablets as a freebie maybe (only a small pack of 8!)

Hope all goes well for you!!! Smile

Welcome to the first trimester, expect to feel rough for a while.

I felt exactly the same until about 14 weeks, was in bed by 8pm every evening and napping on my days off! Just couldn’t keep my eyes open and felt drained! Perfectly normal in the first trimester to feel that way so try not to worry! I’m 26 weeks tomorrow and have felt like my old self since about 14 weeks.

Your first appt will be your booking in appt when you are 8-10 weeks. They will give you your notes, do bloods and urine testing, discuss any previous pregnancies, and go over your medical history. They will also then get you booked in for your 12 week scan. Congrats on your pregnancy Flowers

Congratulations!

The first trimester is pretty rough, I won’t lie to you. You will feel pants for most of it, and this heat certainly won’t help!

Try to eat healthily but be warned that your body has other plans. I couldn’t stomach any fruit or veg for the first couple of months! If too much water makes you feel sick, try to sip it rather than gulp it.

Your booking appointment with the midwife is where you’ll be given your notes and booked onto the system. They go through your medical history and that of your partner. It’s quite boring, but also necessary. I also had my CO2 levels, blood and urine taken at mine because I was at the hospital. In some areas this will be a different appointment.

After your booking appointment you should get a letter in the post about your first scan! :)

I guess to it's important to note not everyone feels like this for that long, we're all different and even 2nd pregnancies can be different for the same mother.

It's important too rest as much as possible and try to enjoy this special time xxxx

Thank you @Bellabutterfly2016 I'll make sure I do. Congrats on your 2nd one too! 😊 x
