Hi,

Just come back go work after having 9 months of with my first child, 3 months in and I find out I'm pregnant again. (Very excited)
I work in a small business and I'm worried my employer will take it hard and treat me differently... like getting angry I'm pregnant again!
Also a work colleague will be extremely moody with me and make me feel rubbish about doing it!
She already makes me feel like my boss doesn't like me.

Have any of you had he same experience?
If so how did it go?
It's getting to the point where I'm stressing about it everyday, all day!
I just want to tell my employer about it now... even tho I'm only 6 weeks.

Any replies are much appreciated Smile

Well, they might not be as happy as you are, but that’s not your fault Flowers

I don’t think your boss can discriminate against you and your colleague is going to have to suck it up, frankly.

Congratulations :)

Congratulations! It hasn’t happened to me but a colleague discovered she was pregnant just after accepting a post at my then company. When she came back, she fell pregnant within weeks and this time it was twins. She had 3 under 2 years old when she came back the second time. There were one or two comments, mainly from customers to be frank, but we coped and employed temps to cover her MLs. She was a very diligent colleague and despite the interrupted start to her employment, she became a vital member of the team.

Don’t feel guilty - lots of people need unplanned time off work for illness or accidents. At least with pregnancy the timings are understood.

I went back to work after maternity leave already pregnant! One of my colleagues was really cross with me but got over it! I am afraid it is just one of those things, I wanted my dc close together and work just had to get on with it. They are not allowed to discriminate against you and as pp have said at least with pregnancy and maternity leave it is usually much more predictable and also time limited than other reasons you could be off.

They'll probably be annoyed but not much they can do about it. Has your maternity leave cover person left or is there a chance they could stay on?

hairdresser24 · 06/08/2018 08:41

Thank you everyoneThanks,

Unfortunately when I leave for maternity they don't get cover, well they didn't last time. Someone will either take on my clients or they will wait for me to come back .. or go else where!

I'm stressing more about upsetting my employer, I couldn't really care about what my work colleagues has to say

Any ideas on how to ease my mind and how to break the news? I can't even remember how I done it first time Confused

If all goes well with this pregnancy and baby I'm planning on going back to work and trying to get pregnant again so similar situ. I have to go on reduced duties when pregnant due to their protocol so it is difficult for employer and my colleagues as they are always stretched when someone says they're pregnant but this is life! It's your life and it's only a job. Not ideal for them but they can't hold it against you and am sure can relate to your situation and starting a family. Just send a formal email would be my advice!

CobaltRose · 06/08/2018 19:25

They probably won't be thrilled, but there's nothing they can do about it (nothing that isn't highly illegal anyway).

Congratulations! Flowers

You might find you're not eligible for omp if you're pregnant this soon, so be aware you may need to save up a bit

hairdresser24 · 06/08/2018 19:53

You qualify for SMP If you've been employed by the same employer for atleast 26 weeks before the end of the 15th week before baby is due, this also includes any time off for previous maternity leave as your still a full time employee during maternity leave, I've been back for 3 months already so i would of worked for more than 26 weeks by the time it comes to 15 weeks before baby is due... thank god! Been searching it up as been panicking LOL!

(But if anyone has to go off before that time they may be able to qualify for maternity allowance instead)

Thank you for all your comments and support!
Hoping to tell my boss this week!
Wish me luck everyone ConfusedThanksCake

I'm on maternity leave now and 2 months pregnant ConfusedConfusedConfused I haven't told work yet. I'll only be returning for four months before leaving again! Ah well. There's more important things in life than keeping your boss happy
