Hi ladies
I’m 34 weeks pregnant and just went to see the lion king at the theatre. We were 2 rows from the front. I am now worried the loud sounds could have hurt baby? Has anyone else been to a musical when pregnant? Xx

In the nicest possible way, don’t be daft. The baby will be fine.

I went to see Ed Sheeran when I was 24 weeks and very stupidly did not think of standing near(ish) the speakers! I even googled once I'd left in a panic but couldn't find anything to say it should be a worry. I'm 31 weeks now and everything seems okay so far, fingers crossed!

You know those big inflatable Zorb ball things? Imagine you're inside one of those, and also it's full of water. I don't think you'd catch much of hakuna matata. Baby will be fine.

V irresponsible. Should have wrapped your bump in bubble wrap and worn a puffa jacket to prevent the first song baby hearing being Can You Feel The Live Tonight

I went to see Duran Duran when I was in labour. He is the most chilled out little dude imaginable.

I looked this up when I went to go see a metal band while pregnant - if you don't need ear protectors (which you clearly don't for a musical) then it won't cause harm.

butunlikely · 04/08/2018 17:41

Went to see Aladdin at 30 weeks. No harm done, she definitely didn't recognise the songs when I showed her the film 😊

Thankyou ladies for your reassurance! Some of your responses did make me laugh and put me more at ease! Xx

My husband plays heavy metal to my bump, baby loves it and starts kicking and wriggling 😂

Your baby will be fine 😊

I play a woodwind instrument, can be loud, if too loud my DD objected by applying foot to diaphragm until the noise stopped (which it did...) they tend to object if they don't like stuff!

DramaAlpaca · 04/08/2018 21:29

I went to see a musical about Buddy Holly when 30 plus weeks pregnant with DS1 25 years ago. He was bopping around inside me like a mad thing all the way through. I tried playing some of the songs to him after he was born but there was no reaction, he clearly didn't remember Grin Anyway, he was fine there was no harm done.

I saw Stomp on the West End at 7 months pregnant and was really worried!! So I don't judge you, but equally now realise I was being daft!

Pinklittle · 04/08/2018 21:52

Go and enjoy the show :) I went to a rock concert two days before my due date I was worried about the noise too, so spoke to my midwife and she nearly spat her tea out laughing :) :) :) have fun xx

mistlethrush · 04/08/2018 21:56

I 'sang' in a big concert with a full symphony orchestra, large choir etc etc, at 37 weeks... Ds arrived at 38 wks but I think he ran out of room! (I did sit half of it out where there were few sitting down options - I think the person in charge was very relieved - she's already sat me next to the gynacologist in the choir, just in case!!!)

Grumpos · 04/08/2018 22:55

I was thinking this to myself in the cinema watching mama Mia the other day - the film wasn’t super loud but the bloody Dolby Surround Sound adverts before the trailer is!!!! Is it a getting older thing but WHY are the cinema adverts so sodding loud? Is this just Vue Cinemas are all of them determined to decimate my ear drums?
Baby danced all the way through the film, clearly loves ABBA....he is also loves the grease soundtrack when I play that in the car....and the Labrynth sound track too! Strange child!

Go and enjoy it because it might be a while until you get to go again!

user1471426142 · 05/08/2018 11:51

Sorry just realised you’d already been. I really miss the theatre. The only thing I’ve seen in the last 2 years was Bing live

SoyDora · 05/08/2018 12:37

I went to see Cats at 39 weeks pregnant, front row. I’ll be honest it didn’t even occur to me that it might be a problem! The baby is surrounded by amniotic fluid, it’s not like having a newborn sitting in a loud theatre.

EmsyW · 05/08/2018 12:43

Hi ladies, thankyou for all your responses. Totally reassured now and realise I was being daft 😳 I did think there were lots of children in the audience so it couldn’t have been that loud. Was just the anxiety kicking in again 🤦🏼‍♀️ Xx
