Lump "down there"

Last night I felt a lump down in my genital area. I wasn't sure of the name of the area so since looking it up I now know it's the mons pubis..

I haven't a clue what this lump could be. It's not sore, just hard and noticeable when I get a mirror and look. I googled it and it may be a cyst.. But I'm not sure.

My next midwife appointment is in about 3 or 4 weeks time. I'm not the type to worry about this, but want to see what everyone thinks.. should I just wait and mention it at the midwife appointment or is this something I'd need to book a GP appointment for?

The midwife will probably tell you to see the GP anyway so I’d just book a GP appointment.

It’s probably a Batholins cyst (or something like that). See your gp just in case, but it should go on it’s own in a week or so.

Defo see GP but I wouldn't worry, I had one but turned out I had just pulled a pube!

I have one on my bikini line! It's a cyst... I squeezed mine Blush

Probably a Bartholin's cyst. I've got an appointment to get mine removed on Monday. Nothing to worry about, but as with any lump (especially down there!) always worth getting the GP to have a look.

Fiirefly · 01/08/2018 23:14

Just to be clear, mine is stubborn and won't go.. it's been there nearly a year, that's why I'm having it removed. If, in your case, it is a Bartholin's cyst, most tend to go by themselves. Again - worth getting checked anyway!

MollyHuaCha · 01/08/2018 23:16

Bartholin's cysts can actually sometimes be something to worry about. I've had two - huge, infected, requiring surgery.

See GP. You don't want an infected cyst during labour.

MollyHuaCha · 01/08/2018 23:28

Actually, I've just re-read your post. It's not in the same place as Bartholin's. But see your GP anyway!

Sounds like a labial cyst , harmless and very common can be painful and can clear up on its own but less likely to come back if treated with antibiotics ( apparently) I had a few when pregnant .
