I have OC and got given some tablets to help the levels in my liver not go up and some cream to help the itching, but I don't feel like they're helping!
I'm 30 weeks right now, and doctor told me if my levels can stay down and not go up, I maybe able to go to 40 weeks. But I don't know how much more I can take of this itching!!! Wondering if even if your levels stayed down, were you still induced??

Are you having regular blood tests to check your liver function and bile levels? That’s the crucial thing, really, to monitor how you’re doing.

Anything can happen really with OC. My levels were steady from 30-35 weeks. I was having my bloods done weekly. They then got worse at 35 weeks and I had to get my bloods done twice a week, until I was given a c-section had 37 weeks (couldn’t be induced due to a previous c-section). What’s your hospital policy on OC and induction? My hospital preferred to induce around 38 weeks. I thought that was pretty standard for OC, but my DD is nearly 10 yrs old, so possibly out of date now?

I feel for you on the itching front! It’s hellish. Must have been horrific in this heatwave, too. If you’re really struggling and feeling more poorly, of course trust your body and push for more testing. Keep an eye on your baby’s movements, too. I had reduced movements from about 34 weeks, which coincided with my liver function starting to wobble.

OC here too. Diagnosed at 29 weeks. 34+2. Been told baby will need to come around 37 weeks. I'm on blood tests every other day following two inpatient stays this month when my results were very deranged (especially ALT). Results coming down/ stable at the moment. But I'm effectively in bedrest as eating the wrong thing/ any physical exertion tends to spike both ALT and BA results.

But I'm a pretty severe case!

As well as cream and Urso have they given you piritine to help reduce itching?

Thanks for the replies. I am having weekly blood tests every Wednesday. At the minute I'll be having my first proper blood test this Wednesday coming to see if the urso is helping my levels.
They haven't given me anything for my itching but I've found it's far worse than what it was Sad

Poor you! Nothing really helped with my itching, although the cooler I was the less hellish it was. I found cold foot baths, cool showers and standing on my cold tile flooring in the kitchen a relief (but I was pregnant over the winter).

If your test comes back as showing a decline in your LFT/more bile, I’d push for more regular testing and require about an earlier induction.
