Early Pregnancy Fatigue

I’m 5+3 with my second, so very early days. I didn’t find out quite so early last time and know I felt a bit ropey, but nothing like this. I was working full time then but certainly didn’t feel this level of exhaustion.

I went to bed at 8:30 last night, woke up with my 13 month old at 5:30, went back to bed for half an hour in the morning and for an hour in the afternoon. I’m off work for a few weeks anyway, and have been visiting my parents so I’ve had plenty of help and am hardly run ragged. I was anaemic last time, but know my iron levels are currently decent as had a blood test last week.

Anybody else have this? Any tips? I didn’t exactly sail through the first trimester last time, but wasn’t expecting to be so totally floored this early!

I was like that with my first. I went to bed straight from work every day and slept through until the following Morning. Or......
It could be twins 😉

Argh. No. I think my partner would have a meltdown!

Thanks. I don’t think I’ve ever been so wiped out in all my life, not even with a newborn or after a 36 hour labour. This is next level tiredness.

Here’s to hoping it eases off.

I struggled badly with fatigue and it's only just starting easing as I've reached 11 weeks. I slept for 12 hours and then hit midday and needed my bed again. Everything I read just said to rest and sleep when your body tells you to (easier said than done I know).

I just reserved my energy for the things I had to do and didn't stress over housework and things until I felt better.

I hope it passes for you soon!

I'm 4+5 weeks pg and I'm surprised at just how tired I am already. This is my 3rd but I've had a 10 year gap between his one and last so put it down to age mostly!! I think sometimes it takes it out of you more than other times. Plus I think I pick up symptoms more now than first time round.

If you're not already maybe take supplements that have iron in just to try and help add to the energy levels.

Hope you can get some rest and feel better soon.

I'm 10+1 and really struggle 2pm onwards. Try and push through so make sure I sleep at night. Was asleep by 9:30 last night and woke about 7:30 this morning. I used to have 6/7 hour but easily have 9 now.

Totally normal and nothing to worry about. For me has been the key reason I did a pregnancy test (both times). Often more tired than looking after a newborn! No tips but it will get better as you get through first trimester. Just rest/nap whenever you can and put off non-essential stuff till it lifts......

Thanks, all. I know it’s nothing to worry about, just really surprised at how much worse it’s been this time around, especially so damn early!

Thanks, all. I know it’s normal but have been really surprised at how much worse it is this time.

Luckily, my partner and I both have some time off. So relieved.

Completely normal was like this with DD and now this pregnancy (9+6), I’ve spent the day sleeping and I’m still ready to drop now. Rest when you can, if it’s getting to you when you’re back at work you can get a fit note asking to leave early due to pregnancy exhaustion. Take it easy your body is going through so many changes right now.

I'm 23 weeks and still sleeping 12+ hours a day. If I don't like in, I fall asleep in the afternoon.

You do have a toddler this time round, maybe contributing to your tiredness! Hope it gets better.
