I'm not being silly in carrying shopping etc? I never strain myself but I feel useless not doing anything and have over protective family making me feel worried I'm causing harm!!!

Shopping? No. You shouldn't carry bags of shopping with heavy things like 4 bottles of milk or big bottles of lemonade for example.

How far along are you? Best not to carry anything that requires you to strain. It can cause hemmoroids Shock and put additional strain on your tummy muscles.

Of course you can lift things. Most women on a second or subsequent pregnancy are hucking around 15+kg of older child.
Lifting poses no threat to the pregnancy whatsoever, but if you lift with bad technique you can more easily hurt your back because of the looser ligaments.

Anything you comfortably lifted before, you can still lift. Your family are being ridiculous.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and constantly lifting and carrying my almost 15kg 2.5 year old. Can't really avoid that, and I expect most second time mums would be in the same position! I don't worry about it, just try to minimise it if possible and encourage him to walk

I'm 10 weeks now.

I carry shopping but and also a mobile masseuse so carry equipment that I've already carried for years.

Just checking I'm not being under cautious!

Im a mobile nail technician so I feel your concern. I’m 18 weeks now and have had no choice but to carry on the way I always do because I’m self employed.
I lift a mobile table that weighs atleast 10kg a long with 2 bags that weigh about 5kg each. I have cut back with my working day so as to make it a little easier on myself but I’ve learnt some good lifting techniques and I’ve been told many times that whatever your body and muscles are used to lifting on a regular basis, there’s no reason you can’t carry on. As long as your careful x
