has the swelling come on suddenly OP?

DuggeeHugs · 26/07/2018 21:09

Is it just your legs or are you swelling anywhere else too?

3boysandabump · 26/07/2018 21:11

It's probably just the heat. I'm swollen from the waist down and my hands are like puddings.
Do you have any other symptoms headaches or anything?

Markygirl1995 · 26/07/2018 21:16

@secretnames no it's been lingering for a while just tonight it's got worse after putting feet in water they've swollen up more

How pregnant? That is pretty swollen - I would call 111

Markygirl1995 · 26/07/2018 21:21

@singadream do you think I should just got into bed moving tummy side to side trying to feel some movement not having much luck at he no so think I might call triage and maybe go in

OP posts:
singadream · 26/07/2018 21:24

If movements are less and feet swollen yes I think you should call hospital and ask to come in. They take fewer movements seriously. Good luck

DuggeeHugs · 26/07/2018 21:25

I'd call your assessment unit this evening and ask to speak to a midwife. How has your blood pressure been thus far? How far along are you?

My first pregnancy was in this heat and I put my swelling down to the heat when it turned out I should've gotten myself checked.

peachesarenom · 26/07/2018 21:26

That's very swollen defo go in Markygirl1995 good luck xxx

Markygirl1995 · 26/07/2018 21:30

Called in earlier to triage about my feet asked if baby was moving I said yes but that was around lunch time and said I'm still trying to work out movement patterns and said I haven't felt movement since 12 ish and she asked if I've had glass water cold and laid on side I said yes been in bed for half an hour/hour and have tried moving tummy and still nothing and she's got arsey saying to come in to monitor sounded like she didn't want me in.....

Markygirl1995 · 26/07/2018 21:31

I had my pressure tested and was high the other day monitored it again and they then seemed happy it was originally high but not concerned

DuggeeHugs · 26/07/2018 21:32

Put her arseyness down to the heat. They will check baby and you which is great. Hope all goes well

cookiesaurus · 26/07/2018 21:41

I don't have any advice to add I'm afraid. I'm 27 weeks and I've had really swollen feet in this heat too ... a downside if the sunny weather!

Hope all is ok.

Markygirl1995 · 26/07/2018 21:44

@DuggeeHugs could be, just rather not be home and worried feel like a pain going in now like she doesn't want me too

OP posts:
Markygirl1995 · 26/07/2018 21:45

@cookiesaurus I'm 28 weeks I have had swollen feet but not this swollen to my ankles

OP posts:
cookiesaurus · 26/07/2018 21:49

@Markygirl1995 it's difficult to know. Mine have been fairly consistent for 2-3 weeks now abut they definitely get more swollen throughout the day - only my flip flops fit!!Sad

If you're worried, go in. Better safe than sorry!

cookiesaurus · 26/07/2018 21:50

Here's a pic of my swollen feet (not the nicest sight ever)!

@Markygirl1995 I was unlucky enough to need monitoring three times a week during my third trimester with DC2. Whilst the staff might have sounded difficult/stressed/rushed on the phone it was only ever because they were busy and/or short-staffed. The midwives were always great when I was in and always said to come back when needed. They actually told me off once for not going in 12 hours before a scheduled appointment when I didn't feel movement.

The main thing is that you get checked out. Never feel embarrassed, guilty or a nuisance - they want you both to be ok so they really won't think you're being a pain.

Markygirl1995 · 27/07/2018 09:48

Seen the midwife this morning too, worried for pre eclampsia - said BP was fine but just everyone is aware the signs to look out for are:

  • headaches
  • spots/squiggles in vision
  • pain above the tummy
  • swollen ankles and legs(press swollen area and make sure skin bounces back up right away)

Hope this helps any other mums to be!! If you have any of these go straight to the day care unit and call triage!

DuggeeHugs · 27/07/2018 10:22
