Big bleed but found a heartbeat

On Saturday I was out, when I stood up and blood rushed out of me. I called an ambulance and went to the nearest hospital where they did the usual tests, drew a lot of blood and did a urine test. Everything came back clear. Besides distraught I felt fine, no pain or anything, perhaps a bit tired but that's it. I really thought I had lost the baby. All of the doctors and nurses I saw in A&E seemed to think so mostly due to the amount of blood. They didn't do a scan at the time. I waited until Monday for a scan where they found a baby with a heartbeat, they seemed to think it was a bit over to the left but otherwise ok. I'm due my 12 week scan tomorrow but I can't help but worry. Has anyone else had a baby that was fine after big bleed? Did you find out why the bleed happened?

Yes - huge bleed in my first pregnancy around 9 weeks and continued to bleed til about 15 weeks. It was put down to a clot. Second child I also bled quite a bit. Both girls were absolutely fine. Good luck! I know how nerve wracking it is!

Hi, the exact same thing happened to me last weekend. I was out in the car on Saturday and just felt this huge gush and saw I was bleeding. Went to A&E... they did a load of tests and all came back fine. I also had to wait until Monday for a scan and baby was good. I have a low lying placenta apparently, and they think it was that that caused it, but it could happen again which is quite scary.

I'm 14 weeks and 1 day today and I'm just being really careful and taking it easy. I know it's hard to do, but try not to worry too much. Good luck for your scan tomorrow, let us know how it goes :)

I had a big bleed and it was bright red so fresh blood
My baby was fine but it was a horrible and scary experience. DS was IVF too
I didn't find out why it happened

Thank you. I can relax a little bit now. Glad to hear everyone's babies are ok.
It was the most horrible weekend as that's how our families found out we are pregnant. This week I've just been worrying and wishing for Friday to come around. Fingers crossed everything is ok.
They said it was likely that the placenta was implanting but I thought that happened earlier than 11 weeks and was way less blood, more like spotting...

I had a big bleed once at 7 weeks. Ambulance called and had a scan. Everything ok. 2 days later I hemorrhaged and had a m/c. I was a lot earlier though and 12 weeks is a lore positive place to be.

Massive bleed with huge clots st 12 weeks literally a couple of hours after scan - lasted til around 17 weeks - slowing down all the time of course - she was perfectly fine, almost 10 now

Good news! Baby is fine and everything seems normal. No one really knew why it happened. Just one of those things I guess. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, I think I'll just take it easy for a while. Thanks for your replies Smile

I had three big bleeds with clots in the first trimester, which turned out to be an SCH. My son is absolutely fine. It was very scary though as I tend to have more miscarriages than successful pregnancies.

I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant now and still spotting blood for about 8 days now. I am still thinking the worst despite my last pregnancy being fine, mainly due to lack of symptoms (although I worried about this too last time). I think you just worry at any sort of blood you get when you're pregnant.
