This is more just a rant really because obviously there's nothing I can do about it really.. but I'm just feeling so fed up today😩😩 this heat is unbearable, it's draining every last bit of energy out of me, my legs and ankles feel swollen and achey more so because of it, I've been coping ok as I'd drop my 3 year old DD off at nursery 12-3 5 days but it's the first proper day of school holidays and I really can't see how I'm gunna get through 6 weeks entertaining her all day every day.. and it's supposed to get even hotter as well! 😓 Once I'm sat down I struggle to get back up again, never mind running after DD, I just feel huge and I've still got 12 weeks left to go😩
Anyway.. after all that I think it's just getting it out I needed to do 🙈 wondered if anyone else wanted to rant too just so it makes me feel a bit better I'm not alone 😂

Do you have a large paddling pool? If so, I'd set it up in a shady spot and you and your DD can get in it and cool off. We have this one www.argos.co.uk/product/3650536, which is massive and would easily fit a pregnant mama and a 3-year-old.

I’m similar! 15 weeks with twins and a three year old DS! It’s echausting!

Exhausting

MrsY87 · 23/07/2018 19:03

I'm 10w with twins, a 10m old and a 3yr old...I'm obviously not huge yet but this heat is definitely not helping with the nausea and exhaustion, can't imagine having to carry around a huge bump in this heat too! I feel for you!

Could you do some indoor activities? Cinema? Air conditioned soft play? Otherwise sitting in a paddling pool sounds like a good bet!

I feel your horrific pain! This time 6 years ago i was 26 weeks with twins measuring 36 weeks. I was also still working 4 days a week as a child minder with three 2 year old. I wished every second away and maternity leave couldn't come quickly enough!

Huge sympathy!

Thank you for all your replies! I haven't got a big paddling pool, only a small one for DD but I think I'm going to definitely buy a larger one as I put my feet in the small one yesterday afternoon and it seemed to help loads 😍 I'm so glad to know there are others who can sympathise with me, makes me realise I'm not just moaning for no reason 🙈 xx

Not just you, I promise. I am 29 weeks pregnant (not twins) and am at home with a 2yo and 6yo. I also have sciatica and PGP to contend with. They're currently playing in the garden (nice and cool at the moment) whilst I cook dinner (will be too hot later and I have energy now).

I have mapped out key things on the calendar for the holidays and DH will be taking 3-4 days off where we'll "do things". I'm also limiting out and about activities whilst very hot. Garden is set up with paddling pool, tent, table with umbrella, play house and scooters. Need to get sand for the sand pit. Freezer is stocked with ice lollies and ice creams. Probably have around 30 ice lollies in the freezer at the moment! Each day I open all windows and loft hatch (the latter cools the house down). I always have a hot water bottle in the freezer which helps me cool down! I also have a fan in the kitchen. Drink plenty of water. Do what you can to stay cool.

I also have a list of activities pinned up to help me come up with ideas (mostly sourced from MN over the years).....

Read books
Perform a play
Bowling with toilet rolls and socks
Dancing (youtube is great for this)
Play hair dressers
Treasure hunt
Board games
Indoor tea party
Make a tent/fort in the house
Movie afternoon
Arts and crafts (cutting/sticking, painting, drawing/colouring, make hm flowers out of flowers, handprint tracing/colouring in, paper mache, vegetable stamps, make a magazine) - do in the garden if you don't like mess
Play dough
Playing with boxes
Indoor picnic
Baking
Cress heads
Have friends over

Garden activities:
Water play
Cleaning pegs
Water balloon fight
Bubbles
Chalk drawing on paths
Paper on fences as an easel
Plant flowers
Make a miniature garden
Dens in garden
Picnic
Bike riding
Bird watching

Then of course there's trips to the park, perhaps with a picnic, trip to library, fly a kite. Then you have more adventurous things like soft play, cinema, swimming, pick your own, beach, bus trips, museums and bigger days out.

I hope that helps a bit. Try not to feel the guilt of not doing enough. You are growing people inside you!

I feel your pain. This time last year I was about 31w with twins and I was absolutely melting. I found lounging around the house in the nude (underwear in the daytime) directly in front of a fan whilst eating ice lollies really helpful. I went and sat in the car with the air con on frequently too, didn't actually go anywhere, just sat on the drive!

IKnowItsTIMHONKSTIMHONKS · 24/07/2018 09:33

I should add that I wore clothes to go and sit in the car 😂

MaverickSnoopy · 24/07/2018 10:02

That's a good point...yesterday I wore a thin short sleeveless dress and no bra. Utter heaven.

I feel your pain. 35 weeks with twins, pgp, Hyperemesis and a 15 month old. At least my end is in sight next week.
