Early scan tomorrow.... terrified!

Hi everyone. My first pregnancy sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in April. I was supposed to be 12 weeks, but a scan revealed baby had died at six weeks. I had to have an ERPC.

On the 26th of June I discovered I was pregnant again. I'm now seven weeks exactly according to my LMP.

In order to assuage some of my anxiety I decided to book an early private reassurance scan. My appointment is tomorrow afternoon and I'm utterly terrified! I'm so scared that I'll go into the scan only to be told I've had another miscarriage Sad Part of my worry is that, because my first pregnancy failed, there must be something wrong with me Sad

Every time I go to the toilet I'm checking for blood, and when I first found out I was constantly testing to make sure they were still positive! (Though I had to stop that as it was getting expensive.. Grin) Every slight twinge and ache and I'm panicking.

I'm getting more symptoms and getting them more severely than last time, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Sad

Wish me luck! Thanks Flowers

I felt the same at my 12 weeks scan (with no actual reasoning behind it) I was convinced the worse. I was pleasantly reassured when I saw little bean and everything was ok.

All you can do it breathe and wait for the scan. I wish you all the best I'm sure it will be ok Flowers

I too am going for an early scan tomorrow at 9:30.
Had some brown spotting so doctor referred me to see what's going on.
It's such a nerve wracking time. Got my fingers crossed that your scan goes ok tomorrow. Take comfort in the fact that we're not in this alone.

Flowers i was terrified before mine. I just kept telling myself that you’re more likely to end up with a baby that miscarry.

Although things went wrong last time doesn’t mean they will this time. I can see why you’d worry though Flowers

I was an anxious mess for the first 12 weeks, for absolutely no reason, so I can only imagine your concern, and I know its probably not the best thing in the world to do, but I googled statistics.

The chances of miscarrying again after 1 miscarriage are not elevated due to the first. In addition, miscarriage is usually only a 1-time event, re-occurrence only effects 1% of women.

Hopefully those really slim chances will serve as some reassurance until tomorrow morning.

I went into my 12 week scan absolutely convinced the sonographer was going to look and be like there's nothing even in there why are you wasting peoples time. Hormones don't help any of us.

Good luck for tomorrow x

I know exactly how you feel. I was so nervous for 12 week scan I had a panic attack before leaving the house. My first pregnancy a few months ago ended in MC at 10 weeks after having early scan at 8 weeks that showed everything was fine. I am now 16 weeks pregnant and had a successful 12 week scan, where I burst into tears with relief! What got me through this time has been some of the stats previously mentioned - that only 1% of women suffer repeated MCs and that there is no greater risk of MC just because you have had a previous MC. I "liked" to track myself on this website datayze.com/miscarriage-chart.php
Also remember that the stories online including this site are misleading as to how common these things are. Typically (myself included) people who turn to sites like these are those that have sadly had issues. But it is unrepresentative of real life. When I was super worried I would read story after story of a MC before I realised that many times it was the same people often replying. Ultimately the outcome will be what it will be, but try to relax and remind yourself it is MUCH more likely you will get good news than bad. Good luck!

That’s such a common mistake! I’ve done the same with scans.

Congratulations! (Although I can’t see the scan but I can see the others responses).

Hopefully you can relax a little now.

CobaltRose · 24/07/2018 20:42

Thanks, I had the scan pictures removed as they said my name. Smile
