Co sleeper cots- do you leave the side down?

Just that really.
Setting up my snuzpod2 and the instructions say you should put the mesh wall back after feeding ect.
To do this involves unscrewing a part and sliding the long metal pole out?
Is this necessary??

I have the Chicco next 2 me and I leave the side down all night. However my little one is also in a sleepyhead in it. He's nearly 3 months old so doesn't roll over yet x

I leave the side down because to me the entire point is it's an extension of my bed.

I don't have a Snuzpod... it is important to use products according to their instructions, though, so may be worth a call to the manufacturer to check it can be used in this way?

I have a snuzpod and leave it down but the baby doesn’t like sleeping in it anyway!

We have a next2me and kept the side down it was lovely to be able to look at each other when waking up but my baby learned to shuffle into my bed at 10 weeks so we had to put the side up and use it as a normal cot. I found it totally worth it for the weeks we used it as a cosleeper.

Our snuzpod was just a very expensive bed guard. We used it with the side permanently down. Just remember you need either fully down or fully up.

We had a snuzpod. We took the pole out and zipped the side down to feed then slid across and zipped the side back up. If he was v unsettled I’d leave the side down so I could keep my hand on his chest. He was in a sleepyhead though.

We have a snuzpod and only put the side up at 6 1/2 months when she started to roll and we were trying to prepare her to move I to her room. No problems! Except often that extra 30cm closer made all the difference and she had to be in bed with us rather than in the snuzpod!! Still def worth having though.

Oly5 · 22/07/2018 22:38

Yes until they start to roll

Can the heights of these co sleepers be adjusted? We've a superking and it's quite high!

Loosemoose28 · 22/07/2018 22:57

I use a next2me and a sleepyhead. Its attached to my bed. By her 4am feed shes in my bed and we co-sleep until morning. I havent even thought of raising the side, the whole point if a co-sleeping cot is access and baby being next to you. It sounds like Snuzpods get out clause should an accident happen.

Caspiana · 22/07/2018 23:01

We have a snuzpod and leave the side up, seems from the above it is fine to leave it down if you want to but if not I don’t think you need to use the metal pole every time. We have taken out the metal pole from the side that zips down, so it takes 10 seconds to put it back up.

Wellthisunexpected · 22/07/2018 23:56

@Angelmiracle yes. I believe the snuzpod goes the highest and it wasn't quite high enough for our bed, to we got a plank of wood and popped that under it!

user1471426142 · 23/07/2018 07:35

I’m pretty sure we kept the snuzpod down at the beginning but we also had a sleepyhead like another poster. I think we put it up once she started moving around more though. I didn’t like faffing with the pole so I think it was either up or down. Not sure what I’ll do next time round as I was always with my baby when she slept last time but not sure how feasible that is with a toddler so might end up doing more of the up/down during the day.

chloechloe · 23/07/2018 11:40

As many others, we had a Snuzpod and left the side down (folded back underneath the mattress) until baby started to roll. When I did close it, I didn’t bother with the metal pole, I just zipped it back up.

Paie · 23/07/2018 19:36

Thanks for all the replies! Snuzpod set up and have decided to leave the side permanently down at first- do not want to faff around with a long metal pole in the middle of the night!
