Right guys I am 27+3. My bump is measuring at 29 weeks, although I am 27 so this little boy is growing very quickly and healthily! My DH and I have decided we should pack the hospital bag just so its ready. We know we may not need it for another 10 or so weeks but its always good to be prepared! I am all about organisation I have already washed and ironed all my sons clothes, etc so this will be something else ticked off the list.

So ladies, what do you put in your hospital bag? First time Mummy here and I want to be ready! Thanks in advance x

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 2nd..
Bag currently contains:

  • 2 sets of clothes for baby (night time and to go home in) you may want to pack 3-4 changes incase you stay in. I live close to hospital if extra is needed.
  • something to wear top half in birthing pool (should it go that way)
  • loose comfy outfit to go home in
  • another change of clothes should I need to stay in plus PJs
  • 4 bottles of lucozade sport and 2 small protein flapjacks to keep my energy up during birth
  • few pairs of disposable maternity knickers
  • full pack of maternity pads
  • breast pads
  • flannel if needed during labour
  • my own towel for when I get out of the shower
  • nappies (10?) And water wipes
  • toiletries and toothbrush and paste
  • hairbrush and spare hairband
  • slippers (the ones that Hug round your feet)
  • dressingown is usually recommended but time of year I won't need it be I never used it last time
  • premade milk bottle (I don't have these but you may choose to have them)

You can look up on internet lots of template checklists to double-check too

I should also add all this fits in a shoulder gym bag so no need for 3 bags but you can pack extras and leave them in the car if you need them so you're not lugging everything about x

I’m 38 weeks with my second. We’ve packed:
For labour:
A couple of changes of comfy clothes to labour in (nighties, pjs, big t shirts, lounge pants whatever)
Snacks and drinks for both you and birthing partner
Phone and charger and any extras that are important to you (music, a certain book)
A towel
Lots of pants
Maternity pads (even after your waters break you may well continue leaking)

For immediately after
More pads and pants (I’m taking 5 pairs in total)
Bin bags for dirty/wet stuff
Wash bag - hair brush, toothbrush, shower gel, moisturiser
Clean comfy clothes (again might be pjs still)
Breastfeeding bra
3-5 baby grows
3-5 vests
2 hats for baby
Newborn nappies
A pack of water wipes

We will then have a second bag with more baby clothes, nappies, towels and clothes for me and a spot of make up

I took loads for my first pregnancy, so much so, that when I was getting transferred from the ante-natal ward to the birthing ward at 1am I was embarrassed about how much stuff I had.

I would pack:
a couple of nighties and a pair of pj bottoms
Slippers
Disposable/old pants
Pads
Toiletries
Towel
Baby grows
Some nappies
Wipes/cotton wool
Something to wear in birthing pool if using
Snacks/sports drinks/water
Music/puzzles if waiting while being induced
A set of clothes to leave in
Camera
Blanket for baby on the journey home
A small fan (it's boiling in hospital)

Definitely pack paracetamol for after pain. You can wait a long time for pain relief if the postnatal ward is busy.
