Low ferritin 'normal' HB but feel rubbish

I had my bloods done yesterday for my 28 week appointment, and I can see on my patient access it says my ferritin is 7, and hb is 11.6. Both say low, but I haven't been given any instructions or advice about what to do about it. I don't know what the normal range for a ferritin is, but know my hb is on the borderline of normal in pregnancy.

Will they do anything for a ferritin of 7? xx

They definitely should!
Mine was 10 a clue of weeks ago and I was started on ferrous sulphate 200mg twice a day.

Can you call your midwife?
I was told they usual treat if level is below 30-40

Also, I had these bloods done at 25 weeks
Had been feeling rubbish. Extra tired and breathless.
I felt significantly better within about a week or so, so don't delay calling!

(Though don't get me wrong, I still feel like s#@* some days 😁)

At the same stage I had been feeling rubbish and my hb was fine but ferratin low end of normal at 14, and was put on ferrous fumarate. I noticed an improvement on how I was feeling within a week. Hope you're feeling better soon.

At my 28 week appointment I had ferritin of 22 (normal range apparently 13 - 150) and haemoglobin of 130 (normal range 120 - 150), and I was given a prescription for an iron supplement. So you should definitely expect something to happen with a ferritin level of 7!

Thank you all for your replies. I don't see my midwife for another 2 weeks on Monday. And I don't have a particularly good relationship with her so don't want to text. Might just buy some iron vitamins maybe until I see her xx

Can you ring your GP for a phone appt?
It's really important you get the right (strong enough) treatment for both you and baby.

Sorry you don't feel you have a good relationship with the MW.
Would you consider asking for a different one?

You can always ring the practice and tell the receptionist that you have seen your results and ask if they can see a note on the system.
Often one goes on if their plan is for you to have a prescription.
