Swollen legs and feet !!

I’m so frustrated as I seem to have ballooned in this weather. I’m not worried about preeclampsia as my blood pressure is normal and I’ve not had headaches etc

I’d just really like some remedies. Lay on couch with my feet raised

That's about it, I'm afraid. Weight off and feet raised (ideally above hips) as much as possible. At least in this weather you can stick to flip flops!

How many weeks are you? My DD was a July baby and my legs/feet were enormous for the last month or two - I could literally feel the fluid pooling downwards if I stood for a minute or two. Much sympathy, and I hope it eases for you soon!

Just to add, I hope someone else has more remedy ideas!! There may well be, I unfortunately didn't know them. Massage maybe?

I’m so sorry mine were awful 1st & 3rd pregnancy - I didn’t find anything that helped. They went back to normal 2 weeks pp, I had to wear flip flops from 7months.

In summer too and so so uncomfortable, I can remember changing ds2 on the floor when he was one week old and the pressure on my legs had me in tears, I thought they would never go down.

Hopefully you’ve not long to go now, and it can only get better!

Oh my I’m so sorry you had to experience that! I’m 20 weeks and 6 days. Still a little while to go get. Hopefully by the time the summers over I should be okay...November baby. Ah a massage would be lovely. I have an office job too which probably doesn’t help

Hi Op,
I’m following in the hope that someone comes along with a miracle cure because I also have swollen feet and ‘cankles’

Racecardriver · 19/07/2018 19:22

I had that. Lay with you feet raised. Avoid long car trips or long walks. Sit on the sofa and lift your legs in the air one after the other for exercise is you can. Consider pressure stockings.

I'm having this problem too (38 weeks). Weirdly I find moving around helps. The swelling is worse when I'm at work sitting at a desk all day.

Drink lots and lots of water too. Water retention in pregnancy is ridiculous x

I find that keeping my legs and feet cool helps with swelling and tightness. Whilst my feet are raised, I apply some moisturiser and use an electric fan to blow a cooling stream of air onto my legs and feet.
If nothing else, you'll have super soft feet!

However, just be careful when walking on slippery surfaces when you stand afterwards - keep a towel close by.

I’m 21 weeks and exactly the same. It’s a good job it is warm because I can only wear sandals or flip flops as well. Don’t know what I will do when I get nearer to due date in late November! I have found my feet are better after yoga classes, and also have been doing a yoga pose where I put my legs up the wall and bum towards the skirting board (so body is roughly L shaped). If I put a pillow under my head I can read a book for a bit like this, so I try to do it every evening. I’ve also developed carpal tunnel syndrome so am wearing splints at night for that too. Feeling really well otherwise but it’s so frustrating being all swollen up - I didn’t expect this so early on! Will keep watching for any miracle cures Smile

Epsom salt baths!! Epsom salt is pretty cheap so you can chuck loads of it in a warm bath (along with a few drops of lavender oil), and it should help the swelling go down, or at least help ease the tiredness and achiness that goes with hot and heavy legs.
I'm 38 weeks and while I've managed to escape any serious swelling I've definitely had days when the weather and the weight are all too much for my poor feet and ankles and a salt bath always helps. Apparently Epsom salt baths also help reduce the risk of pre eclampsia too - all about rebalancing the level of magnesium in your body apparently.
