Reduced movement

Everyone from my boss to MIL are telling me reduced movement towards the end is normal..? Every time I mention baby hasn’t moved much today they say oh that’s normal..

Does anyone else have this problem? I feel like (MIL especially) makes out I’m being dramatic and overly worried. Midwife has told me to report any reduced movements, but I’m sick of been made to feel that I shouldn’t be worrying!

Ring the midwife / triage number now please.

Sorry that was blunt. Try the cold drink, lay on side trick. But you know your baby and Kicks Count. If it is abnormal you get it checked out, every time.

I'm 30+5 with my first so don't have any experience however the leaflet my midwife gave me says it's not true that reduced movement towards end is normal.
Listen to your midwife not your MIL or boss. Give her a call and she can reassure you

InterstellarSleepingElla · 19/07/2018 17:23

It is not normal, please phone your midwife or the hospital ASAP.

Stephisaur · 19/07/2018 17:23

My maternity folder specifically says that it isn’t normal.

Call the midwife/triage unit to be on the safe side x

WhoInTheWorldAmI · 19/07/2018 17:24

There's less space so the moments might be different , but there should still be movements. Please go get checked, it's always better to be safe x

coffeeforone · 19/07/2018 18:05

Agree with pps that it's not normal. If I'm worried I have a cold drink and lie down, if still worried I'd call your midwife/contact number.

BarryTheKestrel · 19/07/2018 18:12

What you feel may change, but they should still follow the same pattern as always. Any reduction OR increase in movements, even up to labour, should be investigated by triage or your midwife as soon as possible.

ShutTheFridgeUp · 19/07/2018 18:15

As Barry said, what you feel may change towards the end (less kicky/proddy more rolls etc) but the pattern and frequency should stay the same.

If you are worried, then please do call. Midwives would honestly rather you came in than not if you are concerned

Thank you all for your responses. I was in earlier being monitored for reduced movements. All is fine with baby Smile.

I’m just sick of being told reduced movement is normal!
