Aveda have a spa in Holborn that does a hydrotherapy massage for mums to be. I'm booked in for a few weeks time

greenday · 29/05/2007 13:27

Ooh, that sounds interesting. What is hydrotheraphy massage? Is it to do with water only? I was looking for aromatherapy.

You lay on water cushions so you don't have to roll over.

Will try and find link for you.

ThomCat · 29/05/2007 13:33

Discover a new dimension to the nurturing art of massage . . . warm water filled cushions cradle your body, easing strain on muscles as your spa therapist reaches deeply stressed areas. All the benefits of traditional massage, without the normal challenges - no turning over, no uncomfortable face cradles - just uninterrupted relaxation. An AVEDA exclusive, Hydrotherm changes your perception of massage.

ThomCat · 29/05/2007 13:34

Discover a new dimension to the healing art of massage. Relax completely. Embrace total calm.
A soft, warm bed of water cradles the curves of your spine. Your stressed muscles begin to relax. Your breathing deepens. Your worries fade.

And that's just the first 30 seconds.

Now, Aveda adds a new dimension to massage....
water-filled Hydrotherm? cushions that are heated....
so you feel warm from head to toe, as if you're floating in a tropical sea.

Make gentle your life.
Hydrotherm? cushions conform to your body, without putting unnecessary strain or stress on your bones or muscles. Water meets the curves of your spine, whereas a massage table does not. As you are massaged, the cushions gently rock with your body. You can have a full body massage without adjusting or turning, without using a face cradle, without doing anything. Just open up, let go, and breathe in the pure flower and plant essences.

An Aveda Hydrotherm? massage....
exclusively at Aveda.... helps:
Relieve your stress and increase relaxation.
Improve your circulation.
Raise your energy level.
Ease the emission of toxins from muscles and lymph nodes.

Wow TC that sounds amazing = is it very ££££?

ThomCat · 29/05/2007 13:58

Well put it this way I have a voucher for £80 and that covers my massage and a hair wsh and blow dry afterwards. And it's Aveda, and their products smell and are divine all in a lovely spa in the middle of covetn garden.

I shall let you know exactly how fab it is once I've been

greenday · 29/05/2007 17:43

OMG, that sounds absolutely bliss! I want something like that.
After having DH away for 2 weeks, and a 2yr old DD to care for, and being nearly 30wks pregnant, I really really really fancy something like that.
Will call and find out more about it. The hydrotherm cushions have captured me!

TC - just tried to find out more about the massage but to no avail. Checked out the spa menu on the website and it didn't say if it was suitable for pregnancy. Do you know if it is?

Hi Greenday - right I'm at home and so now have the actual Aveda Spa info infront of me - It's the :

Urban Retreat Salon & Spa at the Aveda Institute
Tel - 020 7759 7355
174 High Holborn, Covent Garden

Hydrotherm Massage is for Mothers-to-be.

This unique therapy redefines massage. Feeling weightless, this treatment is conducted on warm water cushions that conform to the shape of your body assisting in spainal alignment and relieving aching muscles and bones. You receive all teh benefits to a traditional massage without having to turn over. It is therefore ideal for those who find it uncomfortable to lie on their stomachs, particularly expecting mothers.

Think the prices may have changed a bit but says here full body is 1hr 15 mins and is £65.

Sounds worth every penny to me.
hope you get booked in soon. TC x

HI TC - I just called Aveda and booked myself in for pregnancy massage. Not sure if its Hydrotherm (should have read your message before I called!!)but already looking forward to it sooo much!! It's 1.45hrs and cost 90pounds which is very reasonable for Aveda, don't you think!!
Enjoy your massage!!!! Look forward to hearing about it. Definitely something I would like to try out myself perhaps post pregnancy.
