Decreased movements at 32 weeks

I'm 32+3 and feel that movements have decreased - not in terms of the frequency but in intensity...

I counted 10 little movements in the space of about 10 minutes this morning and can feel light tickly movements quite low down as I'm writing this, but not the big thumping kicks at the top of my bump that I used to feel a couple of weeks ago.

Is this normal? I've read that because there is much less room for the baby to move kicks etc decrease as you head towards term, but is this when this should be happening? Help!

Hi, I'm 32+2 and my LO's movements have definately chaged recently. It feels more like the baby is squirming around rather then kicks. I dont really get those anymore... I'd reckon it a lot down to lack of space, also I think I remember reading that (if its your first) the baby will start dropping down from 34 wks ish so you may feel more movement after that as I think that gives them more space.

I'm sure someone will be along who knows better than me though!!! Do you have a 32 wk midwife appt coming up? Mine is on Thursday.

yes, agreed. am also 32+2 today and don't get many full-on kicks now - more squirmy push-pull sensations. i remember the same from ds1. another reason may be that your baby has changed position - i notice far fewer big kicks now he is head down

Thanks everyone. I just spoke to my midwife who said that as long as I am feeling something then all should be well. She's said I can go in later today and she'll have a listen just to reassure me. Think that's what I'll do

Great news oysterpots - its just nice to get some re-assurance.

DS2 for me as well Tutter!!

Phew. Saw the midwife earlier who said everything was fine - heartbeat normal, lots of wriggling when she jabbed it hard. Said it might have just moved positions a bit which would change how I experienced the movements.

Worth going though - they are definitely there to reassure us and mw said I could go back any time I was worried.

Berated me for not having my notes with me though as I'd come straight from work. She's made me promise to carry them round with me everywhere from now on!

Glad all is ok for you oysterpots. Make the most of it for now - I'm now 37 weeks and baby has dropped which means that it now has more room to start kicking again!
