We went through a few threads and found what people said to you when you were pregnant... And made a video with the best/worst comments.

What do you think... Are these comments all out of order? Do you agree with the consensus of the people in the video?

After announcing!

"Ohhh so that's why you've put on weight?"

Arseholes!!

shelentei · 19/07/2018 16:05

When are you having the next one?

Blondielongie · 19/07/2018 16:06

Was it planned?
Is the father still around?

Unbelievably rude! None of their business.

Babyg1995 · 19/07/2018 16:06

your massive is it twins got that constantly.

Spudlet · 19/07/2018 16:12

'I must have amazing abs. I was your size when I gave birth.'

I was about five months pregnant at the time (with a 9lb-er, in the end) and she had given birth prematurely...

Also, anything about your labour unless specifically asked, and even then approach with tact and care. I can't stand these women who try and terrify expectant women with their '400 stitches after an episiotomy done with a rusty spoon' stories.

Evvvve · 19/07/2018 16:20

'Wow you're huge, are you having a litter?' well no, I'm not a dog...

With my first I had 4 threatened miscarriages in first trimester, I wasn't ready to tell people (apart from close friends and family) I was pregnant until I was about 20 weeks because I so scared but some people thought it was appropriate to poke me in the stomach and say 'you're getting a bit of a tum, anything you want to tell us?' no because a) I wasn't ready to tell people and b) what if I hadn't been pregnant?!

And what is with people just touching you when you're pregnant? I got so fed up with it I sometimes just put my hands on their stomach if they touched mine, it soon got the message across 😂

Arkengarthdale · 19/07/2018 16:25

Pregnant persons? Really?

Markygirl1995 · 19/07/2018 20:35

You could tell I was pregnant with my last two I could still fit in my size 8 clothes

Markygirl1995 · 19/07/2018 20:35

Couldnt*

Aquarius1 · 20/07/2018 09:35

Also - people commenting on your shape - I got lots of people saying ‘it’s all out front isn’t it?” As if they’d been having a good inspection of my behind as well...

What about a round up of things you shouldn’t do / say to a postnatal woman too? I had a baby 11 days ago and have had a relative ask me how long it would take for my tummy to shrink down 😱 ; same relative then felt the need to comment on how my tummy was looking smaller, a few days later- said relative is very mature and should know better... ? (scuse my rant- tired and angry)

Sophendo · 20/07/2018 11:59

I'm 29 weeks pregnant and have found most people have been very sweet and polite in terms of what they say. I got a couple of 'Was it planned?' questions, which I don't particularly mind - but it is a bit rude.

I do find people in the street like to have a right good look at the bump, though, don't they? I guess it's just a bit of a novelty.

student26 · 20/07/2018 12:07

‘You’re getting big! There must be a whole litter in there!’ Gee, thanks.

Willows8 · 20/07/2018 12:23

Complete stranger in a clinic (I work for the NHS and we have a drop in service) took one look at me and stated "your the second pregnant one I've seen today. Must not have been anything good on tv eh". Yeah cheers for that you creepy git, not uncomfortable at all.

meel · 20/07/2018 13:04

‘I never had morning sickness, it’s not really a thing’

Oh okay, I’ll just stop throwing up all day for 16 weeks then.

TeaAddict235 · 20/07/2018 13:13

Isn't it time that you got back to work??

You're not planning on having more are you? (I was expecting DC2)

You'll have to try again for a girl (DS2)

We died so that you wouldn't have to get pregnant so young. (I was mid 30s)

Best thing is to pop them out in quick succession (said by my pastor)

Looks like you're getting the hang of it then (said by another pastor when I was expecting DS2, to which DH said he liked the practice Blush)

Seniorschoolmum · 20/07/2018 14:47

“How old are you?”

Grumpos · 20/07/2018 15:29

Sick of people saying my bump is HUGE
I’m 35 weeks pregnant, I’m not a tiny person - I’m 5’6 normal size 12, I’m super healthy normally and have good genetics (robust Irish blood lol) so I never imagined I’d have a teenie tiny bump but im sick of hearing how big it is!!!

It’s not even big. I am measuring bang on.

One friend said today “you look gorgeous but my god your bump is HUGE!!!! That’s a “ready to drop” bump”

I don’t think people realise just how offensive it is.
Just say oh you look great / glowing / healthy....end of sentence.

DuchyDuke · 20/07/2018 15:34

A woman at work recently gained 3 stones at 12 weeks and was complaining about it to her colleague who’s had 5 and no permanent weight gain. I was there when the colleague snapped that she hadn’t been eating eclairs for breakfast lunch and dinner. It was so embarrassing.

Grimbles · 20/07/2018 15:39

Should you be eating / drinking / doing that? Like I need other people monitoring what I am doing

loopdeelou · 20/07/2018 16:27

I got told by a collague yesterday that I'm going to have a "whopper" of a baby and that she thinks I'm "going to be huge" because I'm showing a little at 16 weeks and she didn't show until 26 weeks which according to her means my baby is going to be ginormous. Wow thanks.

DerfelCadarn · 20/07/2018 16:43

'I see you've reached the whale stage' Hmm

WhoInTheWorldAmI · 20/07/2018 17:52

.."was it natural..?" Confused
I'd met the woman once before Hmm
