Any mums have an existing heart condition ?

I feel like I'm alone & cant find any advise or info about having a heart condition in pregnancy.
We have just found out we are pregnant & it is still very early. Yet to see a cardiologist.

I was born with 2 holes in my heart & I have a heart murmur. I was monitored until I was around 11 years old & then was told I'd not need any medication or anything just precautions in certain situations e.g. dentist work, surgery, vaccinations.

Any other mums or expectant mums on here similar to me ? 🙏🏼

I have a heart condition, though a minor one - MVP, a prolapsed mitral valve. It's fairly common and mine is quite mild, first diagnosed because a doctor happened to hear the click and murmur with a stethescope rather than because I had symptoms.

I had a cardiologist check-up at 12 weeks and I am due another at the end of the second trimester. That's assuming no symptoms before then, which I'm finding hard to gauge as some are typical of pregnancy generally - swollen ankles, tiredness - and others of low blood pressure, which I also have. I was told to expect that pregnancy might provke or exaggerate symptoms as obviously your heart is pumping harder, but also that my particular condition doesn't usually cause issues with pregnancy or birth, so I'm trying not to worry.

It has meant that I am on the equivalent of a consultant-led pathway (I'm overseas) rather than midwife-led care, but personally I'm not put off by a medicalised approach so find this quite reassuring. I have also been told that taking antibiotics before dental treatment or other surgery is no longer recommended as standard.

Same as LeeMiller. Had a scan at 16ish weeks I think (my heart) to check I was ok for vaginal delivery which has I was.

Also have mild MVP - needed to have an echocardiography in the second trimester due to increased blood volume and got a letter from the cardiologist confirming there was no contraindication to a normal birth but that was it. No antibiotics were mentioned either.

Hi ladies. That is great to hear.
I had a rough year in 2016 as I had to have my appendix & my tonsils out within 3 months of each other due to infection.
The usual echo & ecg both times for surgery.
I have to have antibiotics when I have dentist work done & have all of the annual vaccinations they give out.
Hopefully then can just do an ecg & echo again & check everything is okay & I will have a normal pregnancy & birth 🤞🏼.
We're any of you monitored abit more than usual ? X
