Bras!

So I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant and have gone from a 32D to a 32G already. I’m really struggling to find decent bras. I’ve googled it and seen various top 10 best maternity bras only to open the link to find the most frumpy enormous bras in existence. I’m not searching for the most sexy barely there things but just something that makes me feel a bit decent and can also be worn with a vest without being on show.

I’ve lasted this long with simple ASOS jersey bras from the fuller bust range but they don’t seem to last long and are not really offering me the support anymore. I’m starting to get back ache across my upper back and dont know if this is due to my boobs getting big so quickly so feel I definitely need a bit more support.

Just wondering if anyone has found any decent bras about and does it really need to be a maternity bra or is there any other options out there that might do?

Hi, I'm 34f-g and also really struggled for mat bras.
I ended up at John Lewis. They have a few ranges, but I found their own label ones to be comfy and affordable (they're also pretty ugly but you just get used to that!!).
I would say you could go for any non-wired bra but invest in maternity ones if you're planning to breastfeed as the cup unclasps.
Oh and do get measured- your back size and boob size can change a lot during and after pregnancy.

Molke bras are good, if you are on Facebook there is a page boob or bust it's fab you'll find loads of info and advice on there, Hotmilk are decent but a bit pricey as well x

Asda £4.00 t-shirt bras.. they were so comfortable and probably the best bra I've ever worn!

Just bought some more as pregnant with 2nd.

Also try brastop.com

MojoMoFo · 16/07/2018 01:29

Yes, definitely try the John Lewis maternity bras (own brand). They weren't the sexiest, but not the frumpiest either. I think I bought a two-pack of black & nude.
I'm sure I also bought maternity bras from M&S that weren't that frumpy x

Thanks everyone, just had a look at all the suggestions and the John Lewis are pretty decent! The Asda ones are so cheap too I might pick up a couple just to see how they last.

The Facebook page suggested is also brilliant so i’ll definitely have a good look through it. Thanks again everyone.

I've used Tesco's full support bras with no underwiring. Absolute god send. X

Molke

I just use normal bras. I’ve no idea why everyone gets rid of underwiring when pregnant - my boobs need the support! As long as the bra fits properly, there’s nothing wrong with underwires.

WhoAteAllTheDinosaurs · 16/07/2018 11:57

Also refusing to get rid of my underwires! Just make sure they fit properly and you’ll be fine.

Minkies13 · 16/07/2018 12:07

I've found the John Lewis ones here so uncomfortable as my ribs expanded so much. Bonds maternity bras are easily the BEST!! They have extra long clasps and are so comfy. I had my Australian friends post them over but I see they now sell them on asos... Both the maternity bras and crop tops from Bonds are amazing

Wellthisunexpected · 16/07/2018 14:01

I didn't bother with maternity bras, just sized up in my normal underwired bars. I don't do frumpy bras!

lynzpynz · 16/07/2018 14:28

Weirdly I’ve found sports bras perfect whilst pregnant. Like non-branded cheap sports stores ones as they have given me enough support and not killed me with round ribs etc. I’ve admittedly bought bigger than my size should be if I wanted it for actual exercising but it’s for comfort nothing else. Saved me a fortune in non-wired normal bras!

matchmakers · 16/07/2018 18:00

Argh I'm still in my underwires too, my bra size hasn't gone up yet and I'm 32 weeks! I'm a 36H though so huge boobs normally. I do want some non wired though, wires can cause blocked ducts and lead on to mastitis according to the BF person I saw when I had DD (when I was dutifully in maternity bras from about 20 weeks). The weeks are starting to poke me a bit now anyway.

I haven't found any decent ones that are actually supportive with a huge cup size yet though. Wondering about the FigLeaves Flexi wired ones, though they are nearly £49 a bra Confused

Wellthisunexpected · 16/07/2018 18:25

I couldn't find a nice non-wired nursing bra last time, they were all fugly so I just stayed in wired ones and converted them with clips from suckle store. I'm only a 30g so need a moulded cup to give me a bit of shape!

butunlikely · 16/07/2018 22:32

I just bought/am buying normal (but massive!) bras while pregnant, there's nothing wrong with wires?

I had a few nursing bras that were unwired but buying an underwired nursing bra Was a revelation - I'm a 36F/G. I think the one I got was Anya. The wires didn't do me any harm and saved my back. But they recommend not buying nursing bras until about 37 weeks I think.
