Pregnant humans and zoonotic abortion in sheep?

Anybody know anything about it? Went to a childrens animal farm today and just as we were leaving, I noticed a sign mentioning zoonotic abortion in sheep, and pregnant women having to take care between easter and approx 2 June (lambing season). I'm 32 weeks pregnant, and I didn't touch any of the sheep, goats etc, and it is near the end of lambing season.... Assuming it's the animals that are at risk and not the humans!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

if you didnt touch any of them you will be fine.

and remember handwashing at these places.

Don't like to worry you but there is a link between pregnant sheep / lambs & a risk of miscarriage. I will find a proper link for you to explain

its only if you come into close contact though, I must add

Copy of info from DEFRA
Enzootic abortion: Caught from sheep and possibly goats, this can cause abortion in pregnant women, or flu-like illnesses. It is normally contracted when handling an infected afterbirth or contaminated clothing. A vaccine is available for sheep. Pregnant women should avoid work with ewes during lambing, and exposure to contaminated clothing.

I think it's top do with when an ewe has actually miscarried- pregnant women shouldn't have anything to do with them. More for farmers wives than other pg women tbh. So long as you didn't touch any of the sheep I should think you'll be ok

cross posted there Whizzz

info here too

There is a risk of catching diseases such as toxoplasmosis from the animals which can cause miscarriage but as you didn't touch them you are at no risk .

Thanks folks. I made dh and dd scrub their hands too, although they didn't touch them either. Thought if it was going to affect humans then the sign might have been a little more prominent!
