Relax, and congratulations on your soon to have baby Grin
Someone will come and have a chat soon but until then just enjoy the calm before the storm and maybe take a picture of your big bump before it's gone!

Good luck hope everything goes perfect for you x

Stroller15 · 14/07/2018 20:13

Good luck OP! Don't be scared - I'm sure they'll come fet you settled soon. Hopefully you'll meet your baby soon!

DancingLedge · 14/07/2018 20:13

Oh,love, you'll get through this.
We're here with you.
When someone comes, tell them you're nervous and need to understand what's going to happen when.
Are you at term?

At least you know you're going to meet your baby soon.
All the best, this waiting's probably the hardest bit.

weaselwords · 14/07/2018 20:15

It’ll be fine. It’s got to be better than being heavily pregnant in this heat, surely? I was induced for both of mine and one was born in August, so feel for you. Good luck!

Lymphy · 14/07/2018 20:15

It will be OK, I had this with first, I got so consumed with it all I forgot why I was there. You are not far away from meeting your baby! That's exciting! Good luck (I'm 40+3and a bit jealousWink) xxxxx

myrtleWilson · 14/07/2018 20:18

Ah good luck! I was induced 15 odd years ago. The midwife examined me and basically gave me a score of 0 in terms of "yay we are about to have a baby" My lip must have quivered as she took pity on me and bumped me up to a 1! Because I felt so far away from labour I assumed my pains were all related to the induction process "like period pains" they said. Consequently I didn't mention said not at all like period pains all night. Don't make my mistake! DH arrived in the morning expecting a boring day (he bought monopoly with him) to find me having my waters broken. DD then took her sweet time but arrived that evening.

Hope your birth goes well!

Notlostjustexploring · 14/07/2018 20:25

The waiting is the worst. I found we ended up hanging about for hours before anyone really spoke to us, I assume it must have got busy. And you've got nothing do do bar dwell on why you're there. But once the process all started they were all fab and had lots of care.

Other than myself I know a couple of others that have had inductions and we all seem to have had rather positive experiences of overall. Fingers crossed the same for you!! And good luck!!

dippyeggsandsoldiers · 14/07/2018 20:28

I was induced and my labour was only 4 hours, just think at the end of this you'll have your beautiful baby in your arms, it'll all be worth it! Good luck, I'm sure you will be amazing!

Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 20:30

I was induced with both my kids, so I know no different. You will do great, just focus on the end goalSmile

londonfeather · 14/07/2018 20:32

I was induced and it was a really positive experience. Quick too.
Good luck

bowgumdrop2018 · 14/07/2018 20:32

Thankyou everyone 😌 Feel like I have no one to talk to my partner keeps touching everything in the room and getting annoyed when I ask him to stop as I'm so anxious so basically feel alone ! I'm 40 weeks today but due to endless reduced movements they want to induce tonight and I feel so clueless on what to expect didn't think I would be this scared

I was induced for both my births (pre-eclampsia); both were really good, positive experiences and quite active as I could control how much epidural top-ups I was having myself, and could feel contractions lightly and the babies as I was delivering. My advice: have an epidural early, if you have the drip. Contractions went from zero to unbearably painful and quick in 20min first time; second time I had the epidural as soon as the drip started. Good luck, it will be fine and wishing you all the very bestFlowers

Redteapot67 · 14/07/2018 20:32

Why are you scared? You are about to meet your baby!
Besides - induction doesn’t always work- I had two failed ones! You could just be in for a long long (days) wait to be honest! I’d grab and book and put your feet up!

TwinkleMerrick · 14/07/2018 20:36

Yay! Soon you will meet you new baby!! I was induced. Just to make sure you know you can have stronger painkillers if you need it. I had diamorphine at night to help me sleep, and then gas and air when my waters broke. Then when I got on the labour ward had an epidural. But I had to scream to get the gas and air, so I would ask the mid-wives now what the procedure is when u need it. You will be fine, go for lots of walks, it helps speed things up. Also drink lots of water, it helps when things get serious xx good luck

babywipessolveanything · 14/07/2018 20:41

Oh I could have written this four years ago! The waiting is the worst part like pp have said. I don't know about you but I was thrown but being in hospital too as I felt like I'd had months of "your contractions will start and they might stop again, stay at home, have done paracetamol, we don't want to see you until your contractions are very painful and lasting a full minute blah blah" and then it all goes out the window and you're stuck in a hospital bed and not in your own home.
But
you will be fine. Not long til you meet your baby now. I know it's really daunting but you will be ok. If I had another I'd happily be induced again, it was honestly fine once the waiting was over. I had diamorphine and gas and air and it really helped. Good luck.

Youaremysunshine2017 · 14/07/2018 20:45

I was induced. I really didn't want to be but looking back I'd do it again but with more pain relief.
I had the gel and then had the drip. As a pp said contractions with the drip go from 0 to what the fuck. I stupidly thought that if I had gas and air too early if wouldn't have an effect later on. So get pain relief from the moment you need it. You don't get a medal for not having an epidural.
I put in my birth plan that I only wanted gas and air (first time mum can't you tell!) So every time I threatened to murder the entire hospital if they didn't give me an epi I was met with "well you said in your birth plan you didn't want one so let's try a bit longer". Go with the flow and just do what's right for you. Don't be scared though. You can suppress the memory somewhat after a while.
Good luck and congratulation! Xxx

Havetothink · 14/07/2018 20:49

It will be fine, you will get through it and at the end you get to see your baby Smile

Procrastinate92 · 14/07/2018 20:57

I only have positive things to say about induction! Ds I was induced at 42 weeks at Dd I was induced at 39 weeks. Labour went very quick, I didn't even have time for an epidural Smile

Xiaoxiong · 14/07/2018 20:57

I was you almost 7 years ago - I remember those crampy nervy feelings!! Much love, good luck Thanks and remember that you will never taste anything so ambrosial again as the NHS brew and toast you can have afterwards Grin you can distract us all with a live birth thread!!

SomeKnobend · 14/07/2018 21:03

Don't be scared, your baby will be here soon, yay! I've had 3 inductions, babies took about 24 hours then 12 hours then 12 hours again to arrive! I think that's longer than average though - for most people it'd be half that. When you're induced you don't have to wait til you're 4cm dilated for an epidural, you can ask for one as soon as you need it. Good luck. You'll be fine! x

mrs2468 · 14/07/2018 21:07

I was induced 8 weeks ago. Was in hospital for five days before they could break my waters so rest, and relax then wait for baby. Some are quicker though women next to me was two hours. Good luck

bowgumdrop2018 · 14/07/2018 21:48

They just done an examination and said I'm about 1-2 cm dilated and cervix still needs to come forward more and their plan is to break waters once it does so they have placed something that's got a long string type thing attached to it to soften my cervix? Then they put gel in after 24 hours but I feel very crampy and in pain after the sweep and have lost mucas plug shortly after sweep which was around 3

I don't blame you for being scared but you're going to be a mummy soon to a brand new little person! All your hard work in pregnancy is about to pay off.
Keep us updated :-)

Rozzzzzalmost35 · 14/07/2018 22:39

I've been induced twice due to being overdue - first time I needed four pessaries then had my waters broken and was 18 hours after that with an epidural and forceps delivery, second time I had three pessaries then had my waters broken and from first contraction to Baby was two and a half hours. I think my point is it can be a really slow process and please make sure you ask questions as they won't explain it to you unless you ask. Good luck xxx

Mummy0718 · 14/07/2018 23:32

Currently in same situation as you OP, lying in hospital after having first pessary and it’s a waiting game now! Nervous too! Hope all goes well for u Flowers
