Extreme Fatigue in early pregnancy

Hey ladies, this is my 2nd pregnancy. My daughter is 8 1/2. I am struggling with extreme fatigue. I am fighting to stay away, I’m really lucky to have just had 2 weeks off when I found out and I’ve slept a 2 hr nap every afternoon and been going bed early, how am I going to cope going back to a 35hr 9-5 job and not have a 2 hour midday sleep 😫
My iron is fine etc had blood tests before we got preg and onhigher dose of folic acid. Vitamins. Just so exhausted.

I’m currently around 6 weeks and the exhaustion is flooring me. I’ve just woken up from a 3 hour nap while my daughter was napping and I’m dreading work next week. In some ways I’m very lucky as I don’t really get sickness, just nausea and extreme tiredness. I had forgotten how debilitating the tiredness could be though. Far worse for me than the newborn stage (although maybe I’ve blanked that out too!)

Always harder with subsequent pregnancies because you have other children too.

i remember the 6-12 week range I was so tired with dc2, I had to take a couple of days off sick to sleep. It is what it is - it got much better in the second trimester.

Almost 16 weeks and shattered I've never known anything like it.

It’s crazy, I don’t ever remember being this tired on my first ha. I agree I can cope with sleepless night but sleeping and still feeling tired is horrid lol. Well almost 6 weeks so plenty more weeks of tiredness to go. Very lucky no sickness atm just a tad nauseous every now and then x

From 5-12 weeks for me the exhaustion was extreme. I was taking two two hour naps a day on top of a full nights sleep. My energy levels boosted about 14-15 weeks and I'm still tired but managing now at 32 weeks as long as I get a full night of sleep (9-10 hours over the usual 6-7 I required before I was pregnant).

@Liverbird77 if you are tired at 16 weeks make sure your iron level has been tested and you have the actual results.

user8807 · 14/07/2018 17:06

yes, my pregnancies were not the same! First time round my bones hurt, but the second one, the exhaustion on the first stage is what i recall. It's all worth it, be kind to yourselves!

I feel your pain OP- I am 10 weeks with a 2 year old and just so exhausted all the time. Working full time too and starting to feel down about how unproductive and generally useless I am at work and home. But hoping it improves in few weeks and hopefully that’s the case for you too.

Aw12345 · 14/07/2018 21:57

Nothing compares to the exhaustion of the first trimester. I felt like a non-functional human being! Just sleep as much as possible, be kind to yourself.

At 37 weeks I feel like a spring chicken compared to the early weeks!! Everyone says "oh you must be exhausted" and I'm like... No I'm much better than I used to be!

EllaNB · 14/07/2018 22:27

I was exhausted and as I had no previous DC I would come home from work at 5pm and go straight to bed. Then at my 12 week scan I found out I was pregnant with twins which they said explained my fatigue

MyOtherProfile · 14/07/2018 22:28

Sounds normal to me.
