Pelvic Girdle Pain - commuting full time

Came on at 17 weeks and currently just over 20 weeks and my god it’s painful and I’m walking like a duck. In the afternoons and evening it’s particulaly bad after a day at work and my husband sometimes has to help me up from the sofa.

Anyone else had to deal with this? Any tips? Trying not to go down the paracetamol route even though midwives said it’s fine, but didn’t find it made much of a difference so steering clear.

Commuting 5 days a week is starting to get hard too and not sure what point to speak with boss and bring up some working from home.

I’m panicking, if it is with bad at 20 weeks how bad is it going to be as baby gets bigger?

Flowers for you, it sucks.
From experience paracetamol does indeed do nothing, cocodamol does help if/When you do need something.

I found regular osteopath appointments helped, as well as wearing a support belt (i found the serola one very good). I started having acupuncture in my last few weeks which was expensive but very effective.

Take it easy, unfortunately it'll probably only get worse. If your hurting rest, pushing through will only make it hurt more.
Can you use buses to reduce the amount of walking/stairs? Ask for a seat!

If you need it, ask for time off. I was signed off sick fairly early with both of my pregnancies as I just couldn't cope (very physical job). You have rights, and pain can be very debilitating.

I wore a support bandage throughout my third pregnancy. This is better than potential complications if you try and suffer in silence. Please see the doctor for referral to appropriate service.

Aw I feel for you I had this too and luckily I drive a short distance to work and have an office job I don’t know how I would have managed getting the bus etc I did have phsio and some of the excercises they gave me did help. One thing I would say is it never actually got any worse as I got bigger which I was worried about so Hopefuly it won’t for you either

Hi op,

I've had SPD for what seems like forever now. Only a couple of weeks away from being induced, yippee!

I was referred for physiotherapy which did help. Also had reduced shifts at work. I have been wearing a support when it's not swelteringly hot which has also helped to keep my wandering pelvis under control. Also been bouncing on an exercise ball (as recommended by physio), sleeping with a pillow between my legs and generally trying to keep legs and pelvis in line as much as poss.

Speak to your midwife and see if they can refer you for physio. For some ladies it does get better by itself but don't suffer unnecessarily.
