Hi folks
I need to share my experience of this terrible and rare symptom and tell anyone else that is unlucky enough to suffer it, you are not alone.
Combined with morning sickness nausea it put me in a really dark place. It was so severe I can not believe I wasn't starring in a sci-fi horror movie. It affects me 100% of the time although started to reduce at week 13 (now 18).
Laboured breathing, a blocked ear, vertigo but the worst is/was a problem swallowing the constant gloop drip; worsening when eating or teeth brushing leading to wrenching and vomiting the gel-like gloop that's sticks, chokes and hangs from your nose and throat all the way down to the toilet you stand over. I can not believe this was even possible to come from a vagina let alone a throat/stomach. 🤢 No one had heard of this or anyone medical didn't realise the severity and didn't offer any support.
TIPS 💦- I have a plastic syringe (no needle) that I fill will water and salt to irrigate my nose and spit the mucus out my mouth...best on waking. I cough to get some out and vomit often which actually helps clear. Do it again after brushing teeth and blow your nose throughout.
When eating and throughout the day; keep spitting to prevent it going down your throat as much as possible. If your stomach is full of mucus don't fight it, just vomit as it's just prolongs the agony.
2 pillows to sleep at night to keep more upright.
No Mucinex or Sudafed etc as it has been associated with birth defects. Apparently after the first trimester you could but I think there's still an unknown risk.
It can be associated with acid reflux but if you're nose/ breathing is affected this isn't likely. I tried Gaviscon but if didn't help and wasnt good with nausea!
I'm happy to chat to anyone who's sufferering. I'm out and about now and although I certainly wouldn't be fine-dining I can cope.
