Tonic water, Parma ham

Guys,
silly question but I don't quite get the packed meat suggestion on the NHS webpage. If meat is packed then we can eat it eg if Parma ham comes in package I can have it? Also, I have heard you are not allowed to have Tonic water but I am craving it mainly to substitute gin and tonics...
Any clue?

Thanks a lot.

I had a pregnancy email (either the nhs one or Emmas diary) recommending tonic water! I’ve had loads of it with my alcohol free gin 😂

Not sure on Parma ham :/

Tonic water is completely fine.

Parma ham, as long with all other cured meats must be "cooked" before eating.

Parma ham comes under the: Be cautious with cold cured meats in pregnancy section on the NHS site. Basically unless it’s been frozen before or you’re cooking it through before eating you should avoid it.

The pre-packaged section means the ham (crumbed, oak smoked etc) you would generally buy for sandwiches. That’s ok to eat from the packet.

Tonic water isn’t on the NHS naughty list so it’s down to personal choice. Some midwives recommend it for leg cramps. Just be mindful of the gas issues that fizz can cause, trapped wind is ridiculously painful!

I still eat cured meats but I freeze them for a few days before.

Tonic water is fine.

Seedlip do a non alcoholic botanical drink (non-alcoholic gin to you and I) it's about £22 for a gin size bottle but makes a nice g&t substitute with tonic and a slice.

@wellthisisunexpected the spice one is my favourite 😋
