Taking time off before you've told your employer

Hiya
I'm at 7 weeks, very nauseous and shattered! I hardly had any morning sickness with my first child but this is much worse (not actually vomiting but constantly nauseous). I might have to take some days here and there or go home halfway through the day. I don't want to tell my employer yet unless it gets worse. Can anyone advise how I can manage this situation?

Thanks

If your sickness/attendance is at risk or other issues come up then your not protected under maternity rights etc if they don't know.

I know the first 12 weeks are nerve wracking but maybe let HR know and that means any appointments or illness is covered differently and you won't hit issues.

I had to take sick day because of nausea too and up until that point, I hadn't told my boss. After that day I did as pregnancy related time off is classes as one absence in the company I work for so just in case I needed more, I thought I'd better let him know x (they have a rule about how many occasions of absence and people can be put on a displinary)

Afraid I told my boss at 7 weeks, he was the first person to know after DH! If you're not well you can't help it. Is there a particular reason not to tell work? They'll keep it confidential if you ask them to, but absence will be recorded differently.
