So im feeling anxious for my 12 week scan, im a size 20/22 with an already big belly and Im worried they wont "find the baby" if you know what I mean??

I also find myself freaking out every now and then when I catch myself feeling "normal" ??? Has anyone else felt like this? Then all of a sudden ill feel sick again or get bad burps 🤔Confused

They will definitely find the baby 💕 I’m a size 16 but have always carried it in my belly. They kind of put the wand under my tummy flap just above my pubic area and have had no issues seeing through the fat :)

And yes, definitely normal to freak out. Even now at 17 weeks, I sometimes forget that I’m pregnant. Then something will happen to remind me!

Good luck for your scan :)

Thank god someone else feels like this! I end up sitting there convincing myself its still happening. Had morning sickness this morning so its still there haha Bear

I'm the same size as you - possibly a bit bigger and they found the baby first time. The picture wasn't amazing as he was facing the other way, and be prepared for it to say something like 'scan technically difficult due to maternal habitus' or 'view restricted by adiposity' on your notes. Make sure your bladder is nice and full ready for your scan. They may ask you to change positions but they will be able to find your baby! I hope it goes well and that you enjoy seeing your little one for the first time Smile

Oh gosh, I am the same as you captain - I've got my 12 week scan next week and I'm a size 20/22.

If you need a handhold then I'm going through exactly the same thing (including lack of major symptoms).

Stephisaur · 10/07/2018 13:12

@captainshortie they do press a little bit hard, but it's more uncomfortable than painful.

My baby refuses to pose for its picture, don't think that's anything to do with size!

SomeKnobend · 10/07/2018 13:12

They will find baby, but might not get a great picture/measurements. I'm 30 bmi and they wrote view affected by maternal obesity or something similar, ouch!

captainshortie · 10/07/2018 19:09

Oh god, Crazy how they write stuff like that!
Think they'd be a little more sensitive what with all the hormones! Haha
Thank you guys, hopefully won't have to wait long for my scan soo excited :D

Hey op only go with a full bladder if your scan letter tells you to. It's only old NHS machines that require a full bladder. Newer ones need a an empty bladder.

Celebelly · 10/07/2018 19:22

My letter says no to full bladder, just to have a small glass of water 30 mins before. I did have to have a full bladder for private scan tho (and all the pressing down on my tummy made things a bit tense for a while!)
