Iron deficiency

I’m suspicious my iron levels are low - they were (from memory) 10 at booking. Ten weeks later and I’m super breathless, mild headaches, dizzy when I stand and generally legarthic. This is my third pregnancy in 5 years (plus I’ve only had 5 months total off breastfeeding in 4 and a bit years if that’s relevant)
I’m seeing the midwife this week but not sure if they’ll redo my bloods. Any supplements that I could start based on my suspicions?

They should redo your bloods if you suspect and are showing symptoms. Im booked in for a test next week as my levels had dropped from very high to just not (after a 4 week long bleed) and this weekend have started feeling breathless, heart palps and dizziness so im pretty sure i am. I was advised to eat a square a day of that really dark chocolate as its mainly iron!

My iron levels were low and my midwife told me to take 2 galfer a day. 1 in the morning and 1 at night. Within a week my energy levels improved hugely. I was exhausted before starting the galfer.

Spatone water is fantastic. You get it in boots or big supermarkets’ pharmacy section. Just mix a sachet with some orange juice and drink. It’s gentler on your stomach than iron supplements. I used it in my last pregnancy to fix anaemia and it worked really well.
