12 week scan anxiety

My 12 week scan is on Friday and I'm so bloody nervous. It's annoying me because I am normally quite a pragmatic person, but I can't shake this anxiety. I feel so sick with nerves (on top of pregnancy sickness) and I can't think about much else. I'm more nervous than in my first pregnancy, but I think that is because I had a private scan at 9 weeks last time, whereas this time we couldn't justify the expense. Not much point in this thread, other than writing it down to try and get it out of my head a bit. Thanks for reading!

I'm watching OBEM, probably not advisable in my current emotionally compromised state!!

All good here too! Measuring 12+3, so due 21st January. Phew!!!! So surreal seeing it wriggle around in there when it hasn't felt real at all so far!

Yay, wonderful EyeDrops! So glad to hear this. :-)

@EyeDrops yay that's fantastic news :-)

So so relieved for you.

Makes it feel so real doesn't it

My first scan is tomorrow, too! I wasn’t too nervous until a couple of days ago. I’ve been so ill with morning sickness I guess my mind was taken off of the what ifs... but now I can’t stop thinking about it.

It’s just weird that whatever happens tomorrow is going to be real. It’s like you’re in your own little bubble up until this point.

@Hotdamndiggitydam, @InDreamland @Wowthisisreal - best of luck for your scans today.

Best of luck to those having scans today! Smile

Wowthisisreal · 13/07/2018 11:32

@WhirlingTurkey good luck to everyone today. The anxiety is real this morning. A colleague on maternity leave came into the office with bubba and honestly I almost burst into tears (a tear or two may have escaped).

Just keeping telling myself that the anxiety is me looking forward to seeing a bouncing baby on the scan and then the excitement of being able to tell everyone 😊 it's keeping me a little calmer. Been driving Hubby nuts this week with my worried and negative thinking but I feel a little calmer today.

WhirlingTurkey · 13/07/2018 18:57

How did it go ladies? I'm relieved to say we saw a wriggling little baby at out scan. Measuring a couple of days ahead of where I thought. So happy to see my baby.
I really hope all the ladies being scanned today had positive experiences.

Mums pls I have a natural miscarriage at 6 weeks 4days and now am 15 days after miscarriage am having a lot of egg white discharge for the past 3 days now and today am having mild low left abdomenial pain and egg white discharge. Please what can it be

Wowthisisreal · 14/07/2018 00:34

@WhirlingTurkey me too! Brought me forward by one day so now 12+1 rather than 12 😊

Measurements were all good but they couldn't get blood out of me so have to go back but they said the NT measurement was well within what they would like.

WhirlingTurkey · 14/07/2018 09:07

@Wowthisisreal - glad to hear your scan went well. DH wants to tell people straight away, before we get the triple test results, but I'm not 100% sure. The NT measurement was 1.2 which is good (lower than my last pregnancy) and combined with with age the risk is 1:2538 but I had heard people can still get a high risk from blood results alone. Although DH pointed out the 20 week scan could throw up something awful, so it's not like a good result for the triple test completely eliminates the chance we might have to face a difficult decision. I'm torn!

@WhirlingTurkey We're telling people.

I do agree with your OH that something could happen at any point or at the next scan. Our measurement was 1.4 and I'm not unduly worried (which says something for me!) I honestly was tempted to tell them not to bother when they couldn't get the blood (but I will go back to get it done).

But you have to do what you are comfortable with!

WhirlingTurkey · 14/07/2018 17:24

Yes, we've decided to just bite the bullet and tell. I've been really poorly this pregnancy so will be nice not to have to try and hide that anymore.

This has been a lovely supportive thread, thank you to everyone who has posted.
