Hey, I wonder if anyone can help.

I found out last week I am pregnant and have been rather down because of mine and my partners situation. Just today I’ve had a great feel of happiness and am embracing the fact I’m pregnant again :)

The only question now is, am I going to have to have another c-section? I had a natural vaginal birth with my first and had to have a caesarean with my second.... My healing was awful and my mood low for a few weeks and because of that, I am worried about having another.

I know it’s early days, but this is my only issue now. I was advised not to get pregnant for at least a year after a c-section.

Has anyone been pregnant so quickly after a c-section? Will they begin the process themselves before my due date to avoid rupture of the scar, or will I go full term?

I haven’t been to see a health professional, but based on an online calculator, I am only weeks pregnant and my due date is around March 10th.

Any previous experiences or general advice is great. Thank you in advance :)

I got pregnant 11 months after cs (deliberately). No issues. They encouraged vbac initially. I pushed for a c section as had a positive experience with my first. Unless something comes up
In your pregnancy or you have pre-identified issues from last time they’ll almost certainly encourage you to vbac. Good luck with your pregnancy.

I got pregnant 7 months after my second section. I am having a 3rd (was an easy decision for me). Midwife suggested it was inevitable however doctor said I had a choice if I wanted it. Not sure how hard they would have tried to talk me around if I had wanted vbac. I think they were quite happy I wanted a section!

If you do go for vbac I suspect they won't let you labour for very long because the increased risk of rupture and I very much doubt they would induce you as some trusts won't at all after a previous section. I don't think they can refuse a chance at a vbac but depending on on who you see they might be against it. I saw a consultant at 15wks this time (but that might have been due to other issues I had so you might be later). I would go in with an open mind, do some research before hand and state your case.

Was your section an emergency or elective? I have had both and elective was far more relaxed and I recovered mentally better.

Hiya. I'm currently pregnant with my second. I fell pregnant 10 months after my first ds was born via emergency c-section. Had my consultant appointment last week and am booked in for another c-section. I very much wanted an elective as my first birth was very traumatic. My consultant said kids of women fall pregnant before the 12 month mark so don't worry. Congratulations 😊

Hello. I got pregnant very quickly after my c.section, so quickly that there's only 11 months between my children!! I was absolutely fine, the consultant noted that my scar tissue was very thin but I had no complications and was home the next day. I found recovery harder second time round, but completely manageable. You will be absolutely fine!

Thanks for the info!
My second birth (first cesarean) was because my Daughter was too big for me and after hours of pushing, she didn’t make her way down.
They said if I didn’t have a cesarean and wanted to continue pushing, it would end up an emergency. So it was never planned, but I was awake.

I’m in two minds. Vaginal birth is instant recovery (or at least I felt myself) and my caesarean was an awful recovery and my mood was low. However, I will feel less nervous with a planned cesarean because I planned a water birth for my second and it was so scary experiencing something never planned - so I’d rather it be smooth and as little stress as possible.

I’m not sure how a planned caesarean works, but will definitely do my research.

Thanks for your response :)

Thanks for your response Fluffybat. I’m in the same boat as you - which has helped with what to expect.

I’m still in two minds, but like the idea of a cesarean, simply because it will be planned and less stressful.

Thank you again and congrats!! :)

Thanks Muffin7 for your response. That’s is a tight age gap lol - super woman!!

I’m still in two minds, but have a long way to go before I make a decision.

Once again, thank you for the advice.

I'm by no means Superwoman, just a bit crazy, so crazy in fact that I'm now 8 weeks pregnant with our third!!

I was told to wait 6 months before trying so I'm sure you'll be fine.

I had a c-section 9 months ago, i spoke to my doctor last week about my husband & i wanting to try again and whether we could.

My doctor said the year gap was advised to give the body time to replenish the things that had gone lower due to pregnancy (E.g. iron levels) more than anything, and that it should be fine if it's what i want

I found out I was pregnant accidentally when my c-section born dc was 4 months old. I was encouraged to try and vbac. I was induced at 36+5 which didn't work so I had another c-section.
