I'm only 7 weeks oregnant and already feel really dizzy and light headed when I either get up or lie down. I remeber being like this at the end of my other pregnancies but cetainly not this early. Could it be a sign of blood pressure problems or is it normal?

might be blood pressure, although at 7 weeks your hormones are probably all over the place so it could be that too.

if you're concerned, get your blood pressure checked out at your surgery.

It's probably nothing to worry about.

I had it measured at my beeking in appointment last week and it was 130/80 which is high for me and has now made me worry.

i asked the same thing 5 wks or so back(12 wks now) to my mw as i dont remeber feeling so dizzy in last 2 pregnancies

she thought it was more down to being hungry(i had to eat every 2 hours in beginning) or dehydrated (sometimes ur dehydrated and dont even realise it thirst is a very late sign apprently)

also i have put on 4 stone in the last 5 yrs since last (full term)pregnancy so more likely to do with my fatness and general unfitness.

have felt much better the last 3 weeks and the hunger is just hunger and not feelings of starvation ever hour, and keep drinking anything even when im not thirsty just to keep fluids up

HTH

You should stop worrying about it tho as that can make your bp go up too!

Try and go and get it re-measured but only when you are totally totally calm and not stressed about anything at all.

When i went to my last antinatal appointment my bp was really really high due to rushing around, earth mothers with the boobs out in the waiting room and generally just feeling severly stressed.

When i returned the following week and was totally relaxed (i'd had the day off work rather than trying to rush from London for my appointment) my bp was absolutely normal and not raised at all!

Oh yes, forgot to mention the water thing. it's amazing how much better you feel after drinking pure H2O.

i felt a bit ropey this morning and just knew i needed water so started drinking it and half a litre later (sipped, not gulped) i felt so much better. Also, i have to eat really regularly or i will feel dizzy and shakey too.

Thanks RGPargy I will try and relax about it all, it's just quite scary when my head is spinning!

mad4girls - Your story is the same as mine word for word. Glad to hear you are feeling better, gives me hope that I will too!

yes it is scarey, goingfor3!! I'm pg with my second child now and since my DS1, ive put on loads of weight and am also 17 years older! I'm sure it all takes its toll on us some how.

i'm sure you'll be fine. Just eat regularly and keep your water levels up. Try and drink 2 litres a day, but at least 1 litre. you'll be surprised at how much it really helps, especially with headaches and feeling bloated IME.

HTH!!

I had lots of dizzy spells during the first 10 weeks. I'd have breakfast and then about two hours later be feeling really light headed and dizzy, and usually eating again helped. I thought I'd end up the size of a house if I kept eating two meals each time (early breakfast, late breakfast, early lunch, late lunch and so on!!!) so I split my meals up, had a small bowl of cereal at 8am and then a slice of toast at 10am, yoghurt at midday, then sandwich at two pm and so on. Really helped control the lightheaded dizzy spells I got.
