Hi all, I would love if you could help me out and help me calm down..

Since I got pregnant I have had a sore left leg. I told my midwife and doctor and they said some pain is normal due to pelvis shifting and ligaments softening etc.

I am now away for a month or two in a different country and the leg pain is constant. Sometimes I have shooting pains, sometimes feels like it is burning or bruised. It is on the outer part of my upper thigh and I can now see some spider veins forming. It is really hard for me to get to a doctor here without flying home...can anyone help? Is this normal? Do I need to just grin and bear it (the pain isn't unbearable, just constant and sometimes wakes me up), or is this a sign of something bad and I need to get checked out?

Thank you so so much in advance...

So before I read your post, my thought was could it be DVT? But from how you describe it and where it is, it doesn’t sound like it. However you are freaking out and stress isn’t good for you, so I would get checked out for peace of mind.

I dont know and dont want to scaremonger but with the burning have you looked up blood clot symptoms?

Could you still call your UK based midwife unit for some advice or your GP and explain the situation?

I've got exactly the same symptoms (minus the veins). I'm 24 weeks tomorrow. I have had it from around 16 weeks at a guess but it's gradually got worse to the point that if I walk any more than my usual day to day walking I'm in pain! I went to the doctors and he's said it's inflamed tissue and can't really do anything about it (shock). He referred me to a physio after me asking but he said I could be waiting until after the baby is born! So I've now booked in for private physio as I don't want to wait.
I've also stopped crossing my legs when sitting and I think this has helped a bit.
Sorry it's not better news.

Thank you for all the advice..I really appreciate it! I wasn't able to get through to my uk midwife on the phone but hoping to meet with a doctor who is a friend of a friend out here, just to put my mind at ease...

I had this throughout my pregnancy- doctors fobbed me Off in first trimester saying it was vascular blah blah! Was admitted to hospital in second trimester because of very severe pain similar to what you described, cramps and shooting pain - I actually collapsed at my work as my leg just gave out from the spasms. They gave me blood thinners and said DVT but scans were negative for blood clots. Ended up saying it was nerve pain because of how the baby was positioned. They gave me diazepam and tramadol... which I didn’t take cause I was worried for the baby.
The pain/ spasms pretty much carried on til I delivered - some days better than others but I had to stop driving on doctors orders.

I would always try to talk to your midwife as anything is pregnancy is worrying. But if my experience is anything to go by there is not much of that can be done. Elevate leg and use hot water bottles to ease pain.
Good luck Flowers

I have vascular pain on my upper thigh- it’s agony!! Support tights help, and it’s always better the days I’m not working, so try not to be on your feet too much.

I'm pregnant with my second child and I have exactly this as I had with my first too. Mine was sciatica. It feels like a hot iron is on my upper outer right thigh. I wasn't taken seriously and they didn't do anything about it. Apparently it's to do with how baby lies. I was 12-15 weeks pregnant while we were in honeymoon with our first and I couldn't walk anywhere. If I'm up for 5 minutes I get it, even while washing up. Hope it gets easier for you but if it's like mine I'm not sure it will. Be careful with flying too as I got blood clots from our return journey home from Bali (27 hours door to door). Please take all the flight precautions you can. Good luck! :)
