Anyone else who works in childcare and pregnant finding work a bit of a struggle? I work in a 0-3 room of a nursery and finding it exhausting already at 16 weeks!

Yes me! I’m the room leader of the baby room 0-2’s and I’ve already been signed off for a week at almost 23 weeks because the constant lifting has killed my back! I’m going on maternity leave at 31 weeks

Poor you! I was planning on leaving 2 weeks before DD but thinking 4 weeks before and cutting my hours before hand too. It’s amazing how exhausting running around after a room full of toddlers is when you’re pregnant 😂

Yes I am, I worked in 0-2 room and found it quite difficult 2nd trimester. The constant up and down and being at child’s level and mainly on the floor wasn’t easy. I only worked half days fortunately so I can’t comment if you are full time but I went through spells of feelings ok and having a boost and then again exhausted and really wanting to finish up. I’m in Scotland and our summer holidays have began which allowed me to finish up 3 weeks before baby is due to arrive! It was tough going and for last 2 weeks I moved to 3-5 room so I could sit on a chair at least with the children. I would speak to your manager and let them know where you are struggling and see what can be put in place! Don’t run yourself into the ground and take your maternity whenever you see fit! My head kept telling me to continue to summer but at times I felt like giving up but fortunately had a little boost near the end! Do what is right for you and baby! It’s such a heavy going job at times and people don’t always realise this. I felt colleagues didn’t necessarily see me needing support when I was early on and not showing, I guess when you don’t have a huge bump sometimes people forget you are pregnant and take for granted you are coping fine but there’s so much changes to your body and it can be so exhausting! Don’t be scared to ask for help
