I'd try and get in touch with your midwife tomorrow as there are things such as gestational diabetes which you might need checking for.

GruffaloPants · 05/07/2018 17:50

Yes do get checked for diabetes asap. Unquenchable thirst was my first symptom.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 05/07/2018 17:52

I felt like this throughout my pregnancy! Didn’t have gestational diabetes.

Knittingteapot · 05/07/2018 17:54

I've been told today that I might have gestational diabetes, and when I looked at the symptoms this is one of them. I've been drinking litres the last week and not been able to quench my thirst! Definitely worth going to get checked out.

I'm also quite thirsty as it's so bloody hot out! I don't have diabetes. Are you getting enough salt? You might be washing it all away and dehydrating yourself more?

guiltynetter · 05/07/2018 21:21

i feel like this too, my mouth always feels dry even when i’ve drank lots! it could just be a pregnancy thing as i’ve has the GTT test last week and i don’t have gestational diabetes.

littlepooch · 05/07/2018 21:23

Same. I honestly thought i must have GD but my test came back clear.
I think its a preg thing for me.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2018 21:47

Lemon squash, in iced sparkling water was the only thing that cut through the thirst for me.
I did have gd though.,
It also virtually dissolved all my teeth.
But it was so good!

BlueBug45 · 05/07/2018 22:03

If you don't have gestational diabetes have you had enough salt and sugar from your food? It is very hot and as there is a tendency now for people to go very low salt and very low sugar in their diet so if you don't have enough electrolytes then however much water you drink, you will still be thirsty. One way to get round this is to have some full sugar sports drink as they have a certain amount of salt mixed in - diet sports drinks are a complete waste of space. You don't need to drink the whole bottle and I wouldn't recommend you do.

missmouse101 · 05/07/2018 22:06

I had this in both pregnancies. Insatiable thirst. It wasn’t GD, but just normal for me. In fact my leaving present from work was a water cooler machine thingy for my house, hired for 3 months!!! It was amazing!

BrutusMcDogface · 05/07/2018 22:08

I'm drinking loads of lucozade isotonic; it hasn't got as much sugar in it as it used to. You do need to keep electrolytes up if drinking so much.

My friend had unquenchable thirst and didn't have GD, but she did end up with polyhydramnious (sp?) could be a link?

BrutusMcDogface · 05/07/2018 22:09

Plus the heatwave....I'm thirstier than normal but I think most people probably are!

WillowySnicket · 05/07/2018 22:12

I had this too without gd. All through the night, too! I found sparkling water helped a bit?

Foodylicious · 05/07/2018 22:12

I have had a few bouts of thinking I'm thirsty all the time, but really I've just had s really dry mouth.
Drinks to sip, and not downing all at once helps.
As does sucking on sweets or mints, or eating oranges

Foodylicious · 05/07/2018 22:12

Pretty sure mine is just a hormonal thing

MrsMozart · 05/07/2018 22:17

I found lemonade ice lollies helped (so long as isn't diabetes!).
