I'm 3 weeks and 5/6 days pregnant. my cervix is still open just like puckered lips! I really think I am going to miscarry and I am just waiting to bleed now😭

Stop prodding it!
Sit tight and wait.

Mousefunky · 04/07/2018 21:44

Mine felt open for the duration of the first trimester and it was really low down most of the time and hard. As soon as I reached 14 weeks it disappeared, haven’t felt it since.

Rebecca36 · 04/07/2018 21:48

How on earth do you know? When I was pregnant I had no idea whether my cervix was open or not.

LadyDuplo · 04/07/2018 21:53

I've had two babies (but 3 pregnancies in first trimester) - no idea at all what my cervix was doing in any of them!

furandchandeliers · 04/07/2018 21:58

Some people are more curious than others and want to find this stuff out SmileI know all the ins and out of my cervix Grin

Is this your first baby op? If not then it's normal for it to not 100% completely close again , or so I've been told.

JustVent · 05/07/2018 07:55

Is this your first?

XxChlozxz · 05/07/2018 08:46

not my first pregnancy

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 08:48

As it’s not your first I would try not to worry - my cervix never seems to completely close anymore (10 months post partum after first baby). If you’re not bleeding, I don’t think it’s time to worry.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 05/07/2018 08:52

Stop touching it because there’s risk of infection. I know the first weeks are so horrible and stressful but there’s absolutely nothing that you can do but wait. You could wait a few weeks and book a private scan for around 8 weeks which might reassure you.

Good luck Flowers

Have you given birth vaginally before?

If so, that’s why your cervix is ‘open’.
It’s not actually open but it will never be fully tight closed like it would be before previous births.

EstrellaDamn · 05/07/2018 12:18

Why on earth are you poking and prodding around your cervix? Leave it alone! What will be will be.

PotteringAlong · 05/07/2018 12:19

How do you know and why on earth are you prodding it?! Leave it alone!

glintandglide · 05/07/2018 12:19

I’m a bit confused as to how you’re getting to your cervix- I’m sure I can’t reach mine. It would probably be inappropriate to check in the cafe though Blush

XxChlozxz · 05/07/2018 12:48

it just feels like puckered up lips

OP posts:
glintandglide · 05/07/2018 12:53

How are you feeling all that? It’s more than a fingers length up your vagina?

WhirlingTurkey · 05/07/2018 12:59

Please stop poking around up there! You are more likely to cause a problem by introducing an infection or irritating your cervix and making it bleed.
It's totally normal for your cervix to feel open if you have given birth vaginally before, it does not mean you are going to miscarry. But if you are concerned then please talk to a doctor or midwife so they can help reassure you.

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 13:36

@glintandglide not for everyone! It moves during the menstrual cycle, and after childbirth (in fact because of my prolapse, mine’s about 1 knuckle in on a good day, and one fingernail’s depth if I’ve been lifting too much or on my feet a lot or neglecting my kegels). We’re not all the same!

And to others, I’m pretty sure freshly washed hands are at least as clean as a penis; are you also suggesting abstinence?

OP hope it all turns out to be fine.

strawberrypenguin · 05/07/2018 13:43

Stop prodding it! If you've had a vaginal delivery before it likely won't feel 'fully closed' Just leave it be and let your body get on with things.

XxChlozxz · 05/07/2018 13:47

I've never vaginally gave birth no

OP posts:
glintandglide · 05/07/2018 14:33

A penis doesn’t go in your cervix though. Although I haven’t checked mine for years so might make sure it’s still in the same place!

Verbena87 · 05/07/2018 16:59

@glintandglide that’s a good point! I’d never stick a finger in mine when checking it though - not trying to stretch and sweep! You can tell how it feels without poking inwards.

lifechangesforever · 05/07/2018 17:09

Ehhh how do you know?!
I'm 38 weeks pregnant and don't have a clue what my cervix is up to Confused

Lymphy · 05/07/2018 18:04

What you are feeling is the OS of the cervix (entrance) some ladies it's quite obvious to feel others not so much your cervical canal above that will be closed please don't play with your cervix especially this early in pregnancy it's not a good idea x
