Weeing in first trimester

9 weeks pregnant and this is driving me mental. In the day it's manageable but I'm now waking 5-8 times a night to wee! I deliberately don't drink much after 8pm, go to bed by 10pm, and get up around 6. I wake throughout the night needing a wee. This never happened before I was pregnant and I don't remember it in my last pregnancy. Had urine dipstick test at booking in appt last week and no UTI so I know it's not that.

I'm feeling knackered with so many bathroom trips in the night and wondering how long this is going to go on.

Is it just me?

I also had this when i was pregnant, but I was going to the loo all day and night! it calmed down in the second trimester, but did come back towards the end of the third I'm afraid. I just accepted it as preparation for the sleepless nights when the baby arrived!

I don't know if I can take another 3 weeks of this!

Yes! It's hormone related in the first trimester and (as mentioned) comes back again in the third trimester due to baby squashing your bladder. I'm in the first trimester at the moment and it's really disturbing my sleep, so I can 100% sympathise OP.

Eight times a night sounds like a lot, the most I had was 2-3. Maybe ring your GP or MW and ask to be checked for cystitis?

I had this in first trimester, think I had a few weeks respite but now up 3+ times a night at 20 weeks.

Make sure you are drinking plenty and try to drink more in the first half of the day than the second. If you can, take time to put your feet up for an hour here and there during the day. This will help you stop retaining water and hopefully cut down on the night-time loo trips a bit xx
